David Axelrod - Opinion: Biden's defiant delusion

CNN

Editor’s Note: David Axelrod, a CNN senior political commentator and host of “The Axe Files,” was a senior adviser to former President Barack Obama and chief strategist for the 2008 and 2012 Obama presidential campaigns.

Biden could be excused for wanting to put his awful debate performance in the rear view mirror. That was his purpose Friday in sitting down for the interview — to try and quell the panic that has gripped the Democratic Party.

He didn’t succeed.

[...]

“I’ll feel, as long as I gave it my all, and did as good a job as I know I can do … that’s what this is about.”

No, sir. It’s not.

Sometimes the Lord Almighty comes in the form of enlightened self-awareness.

The stakes are as great as Biden describes. And if he believes it, as I think he does, he will eventually do what duty and love of country requires, and step aside.

If he does not, it will be Biden’s age, and not Trump’s moral and ethical void, that will dominate the rest of this most important campaign and sully the president’s historic legacy.

reflect the doom and gloom been pushed by these jackasses in the media.

As someone said to me a few days ago, it is time to turn off the talking heads, and work to getting President Biden elected.

What is happening is deplorable, and I will not forget what happens.

And yes, the press will finally talk about all the terrible things Trump would do if Joe would just get out of the way. All the things they've refused to talk about for the past three and a half years. They and Axelrod think we're that stupid.

Well, apparently some of us are.

You never had over 70% of Americans thinking a major party candidate should drop out of the race. Now, Nate Silver chimed in saying the numbers don't add up. I think he's a Democrat, and he's saying Biden should hand it over to Kamala

And maybe you aren't familiar with Nate's current views. He's been down on Biden for a LONG time.

an asshole for years. Nothing he has to say interests me, least of all about Biden. He's longing for his glory days when Obama was President. They're not coming back. So now, the only way he can get attention is by being a spoiler.

If only Biden would step aside, the press would finally talk about all the terrible things that would happen in a second Trump administration that they haven't bothered to talk about in three and a half years.

These attacks on President Biden are very stupid and only helping TFG. Why are supposed Democrats working to re-elect TFG?

https://www.rawstory.com/biden-debate-2668695029/

After stating Biden needs to get in front of voters more, she told the MSNBC hosts, "I would suggest that the response of that very small number of Democrats that have really come out after the president, and some of the media folks that have really come down on him since the election have done more damage and more harm than the president himself did during that debate."

"For me, and millions of Americans like me, this election is about the future of our country. It is about democracy, it is about getting away from the imperialistic, criminal presidency of Donald Trump and making sure that our children have a future that we can feel good about and be proud of," she explained.

She added, "It naive to think that at this point in the process you can switch candidates and still defeat Donald Trump. It is naive to think that the Democratic party will come out of a contested convention more united and stronger than they are today. "

"I think there is a lot more damage being done by folks other than Joe Biden when you look at how folks are reacting to this," she concluded.
