Last night, the U.S. Senate folded up shop and went home until November. Left undone was passage of our Child Protection Act of 2012. Top Senate leaders from both parties wanted to "hotline," or fast-track, the bill, but it appears at least one Senator "put a hold" on it, throwing a wrench in the works. We don't know if it was a D or an R, but we'll keep you posted. Our next round takes place after the elections. http://www.govtrack.us/congress/bills/112/s3456

(60,212 posts)It said that Sandusky's "goofball" persona was an act. It reminds me of Michael Jackson and how people were like "Oh, he's a gentle soul. He would never hurt a child."
I don't think people want to believe that someone can be a "goofball," or a "gentle soul," and get their jollies from having sex with kids.
I am by no means an expert, but I think it's naive to assume that behind every pedophile you have Jack the Ripper.
Assuming that means that at one point the pedophile should do something that lets the mask slip, but if it's not a mask then it will never slip.
I hate pedophiles. I think we should lock them up and throw away the key.
(I know the truth about MJ will probably never be known, but that dude fit the profile up and down. As per the article, he built an amusement park to ensure a steady supply of children, he invited them to spend the night, and he invited them to share his bed. Even if there was no actual sexual contact, that is some serious, serious grooming right there. At the same time I totally believe he was telling the truth when he said he loved children and didn't want to hurt them.)
