John McCain, cranky, warmongering madman, again: Why does the New York Times print these lunatic rav

McCain said many stunning things during his visit to Kiev just before the weekend, and then in an astonishing piece of Manichean logic timed to coincide with the Kiev grandstand Saturday when it appeared on the New York Times opinion page (under the headline Obama has made America look weak). We can be but grateful that the 2008 presidential candidate chose Sarah Palin as first mate in that campaign, so sinking his destroyer before it reached port.
This guy is dangerous, residing back there in the Evil Empire cosmos. He sees Ukraine on the very eve of a Russian invasion. (Never mind that no serious analyst of any stripe counts this Vladimir Putins intent.) As to Putin, His world is a brutish, cynical place, where power is worshiped, weakness is despised, and all rivalries are zero-sum
. We must rearm ourselves morally and intellectually to prevent the darkness of Mr. Putins world from befalling more of humanity. (Could John Foster Dulles or Cotton Mather match this for the evangelical flourish, this depiction of the Beelzebub in our midst?)

McCain remains a student in the school of military primacy, as his career in the Senate attests. Samantha Power, Obamas ambassador at the U.N.; Victoria Nuland, the assistant secretary of state for European affairs, and others in the backfield of President Obamas offense favor the economic and political means that came into favor after the Berlin Wall fell and history had supposedly ended in neoliberal triumph.
Nuland has been clear on the point in her speeches, including this one, in which she describes States campaign since Ukraines independence in 1991 to yank it westward in alliance with prominent American multinational corporations.

(1,325 posts)Poor Magoo - as I've written before: I do believe the old horse should be let out to pasture to eat his bag of oats, bump into trees and talk to the scarecrow for hours on end. He has truly lost his "feckless" mind.
Magoo is a real piece of work and the fawning corporate media just can't seem to get enough of this fool. And, he is never held accountable or called to task for his endless errors, misjudgments, and misdeeds.
He went to Libya to push for the never-ending sale of C-130's with his boyfriends, was pallin' around with more crooks and terrorists in Syria, and was wined and dined by Svoboda apparatchiks in the Ukraine. Poor old Magoo, he is a befuddled war monger whose ultimate legacy will be the unleashing of Caribou Barbie on the unsuspecting population. She's like a bad toe fungus that refuses to go away.
I will keep hammering on the Magoo theme for McNasty as it seems quite fitting.
Remember his wonderful campaign in 2008? How many houses do you have Magoo? I really don't know, 7 or 8 or maybe 9 but it's not like it's a dozen. Enough of this dipstick!

Doing the same thing over and over again, you know, and expecting different results.
