Justices Seem Divided on Health Law’s Contraceptive Rule.
Justice Anthony M. Kennedy, who probably holds the decisive vote, asked questions helpful to both sides. He appeared skeptical that the two family-controlled companies that objected to the contraception coverage requirement were burdened by the law, as they could cease providing health insurance at all. He also expressed solicitude for the rights of the employees.

(14,449 posts)They are always divided. Kennedy is the decider always. Whatever he wants is what the result is. He is the most powerful person in the country quite frankly.

(14,337 posts)Drop all coverage. Given that they are retail and probably only hire part-time less than 30 shifts, it must be very few of their employees that they cover anyway. Seems they just want to put their Christianity to the forefront. Drop the insurance. Let their employees get it from the exchanges. Better than having religious for profits making employees follow their religion.

(63,903 posts)more than 2 seconds without summarily dismissing it from his mind tells me that something in his brain is wired for that argument and the Hobby Lobby folks know this.
I can't wait to read what the women on the court have to say in the case. If we win I hope a female justice will write the opinion. It would certainly be refreshing.

I wouldn't be concerned trying to interpret any justice's decision based on what the media says s/he says at oral argument.

(63,903 posts)It will be called "On the Trail" and I will put it in GD next week some time. I have to figure out how to get my photos off my ancient cell phone with the Verizon folks first. My first priority is waiting out this jet lag. You will be shocked to see my pics of the streets in Anghiari...I have never encountered such steep climbs...very chancey too with the old stone steps. This was, after all, a medieval hill town...pretty isolated. And I was shocked myself at how little English was spoken there...it was a real demand on my memory of my Italian courses...so unlike the more touristy parts of Tuscany...
