(9,126 posts)I know most people in my age group did not learn morality from church because we didn't attend. Being suburban children from mostly dysfunctional families, our parents usually weren't the greatest role models. Besides some influential teachers and adults, we learned from books, movies and tv. I often refer to it as "Twilight Zone Morality" because that show had so many lessons. Star Trek as well. I think we have lost something in our culture that allows us to talk about how to treat each other or become good, caring people. Some people are born that way but some need to be taught, or a better way of saying it is perhaps find it in themselves. I don't know if it's the internet, but the rash of narcissistic assholes is just overwhelming. There have always been mean people, but now it just seems to be the way most people interact. And it's little wonder, with people backstabbing on reality tv and no one reading anything deeper than a blog post where will they find it? Not to mention their heads being filled with untruths and hate by their twisted preachers.
These pampered women have no idea how hard that single mom must work to take care of her child. They don't even have the good graces to treat their own sister. I'm sure they're passing on those same values to their own children. Good on the writer for rejecting their nasty excuses.
