FBI Entrapment Created 'Illusion' of Terrorist Plots: Report

A close look at government counter-terrorism tactics reveals that many people convicted would never have committed a crime if not for law enforcement encouraging, pressuring, and sometimes paying them to commit terrorist acts.

Federal officials and law enforcement agents are treating American Muslims like "terrorists-in-waiting," according to a new report released Monday by Human Rights Watch and Columbia Law School's Human Rights Institute.

The FBI, under pressure to appear effective and worthy of its $8.4-billion budget, has "targeted American Muslims in abusive counterterrorism 'sting operations' based on religious and ethnic identity"; sent informants to mosques to "troll for leads"; and in some cases encouraged or even paid individuals to undertake terrorist acts, the report (pdf) reveals.

“Americans have been told that their government is keeping them safe by preventing and prosecuting terrorism inside the US,” said Andrea Prasow, deputy Washington director at Human Rights Watch and one of the authors of the report. “But take a closer look and you realize that many of these people would never have committed a crime if not for law enforcement encouraging, pressuring, and sometimes paying them to commit terrorist acts.”

The study, entitled Illusion of Justice: Human Rights Abuses in U.S. Terrorism Prosecutions, examines 27 federal terrorism cases (of more than 500 since September 11, 2001) from initiation of the investigations to sentencing and post-conviction conditions of confinement, finding infractions at every turn.

1. IF it serves their aims

IF it serves the aims of the people with money, the corporates masters who don't want the "people" to have any power... then those unknown actors on the darkside(MY word for folks who do nasty things to plot overthrows of govt) will do whatever it takes to attain their ends. Look at history. Kennedy was about to expose something when he was killed. I have no doubt the ptbs of the corporate and elite world want to shut us all up . Cuase anything that stands for the people and prevents them their goals ..will garner much direct attacks and nefarious tricks.I know have been a target of it online for quite some time.

Sure they are capable of this. After all, look what they did to get rid of us, the Native Americans .Is there any doubt the folks who want us all locked behind screens reading as opposed to trying to help this world..have to keep the fear porn going. Cause if folks knew why they were really up to, they (the ptbs)know the American people would unite together.

The media is just their tool.

When this one agency wasn't willing to even look at my query..I knew.. that what I state above is true. Fact is the rich ruling elite don't like the black guy and have done everything to make his life hell. How much more do you need to know.The guardian ignored two marches in last two weeks. One of 50,000, one of 100,000. both were about the rights of the people. The GUardian I once trusted ,cause of Snowden.. what if Snowden was a red herring to make folks doubt Obama? what if all the Machiavellian machinations are just a great logistical way to gain control? What IF not saying it's so but it's food for thought. What if the money the Koch brother have spent playing DIvde and conquer games online is to directly divde the left so we will not be effective (J EDGars HOvers files on what he did to grassroots movement of the seventies) PLease!
