(17,505 posts)Uh, Mitch, Honey Lamb, it's only 2013. The 2016 ticket doesn't look like anything because that is the future and hasn't happened yet.
And, I'd suggest you worry more about not making the Repug 2016 ticket look like another clown car full of escaped loonies from the asylum. I mean that last two......

(5,106 posts)or two in that lame era. I couldn't stand her for years. Then, as I grew up, she appeared on MTM and I just adored her. By the time of the Golden girls, I was a big fan. My late Mom, actually a bit younger than White was a big fan. Betty White is an inspiration to old ladies like myself now, though older than my Mom was when she died. She's a national treasure and amazingly still working.

(5,106 posts)Republicans in general. Hillary is young in comparison to many Republican politicians, including Mitch himself. But women, such as Hillary and Nancy are expected to go away and die once past child bearing age? Going on a real tangent here: but does the fact that male fertility continues later in life than women's somehow drive the feeling of superiority in these male politicians? This seems a very freaky concept, but the Republican fascination with female fertility just rang a bell in my senior citizen, just short of a PHD mentality.

(36,974 posts)Kentucky Dems demand McConnell apologize for 'Golden Girls' quip
(CNN) - Kentucky Democrats are labeling remarks made by Sen. Mitch McConnell at a conservative conference Friday "disgusting" and "way over the line," and demanding an apology from the Senate Republican leader.
The remarks came at the Conservative Political Action Conference outside Washington. Looking ahead to the 2016 presidential election, McConnell quipped, "Don't tell me Democrats are the party of the future when their presidential ticket for 2016 is shaping up to look like a rerun of the 'Golden Girls.'"
He went on to cite three young Republicans -Sen. Rand Paul, Sen. Marco Rubio, and Rep. Paul Ryan as rising starts within the GOP, concluding, "And the other guys? They've got Hillary and Joe Biden."
In an email to supporters, Kentucky Democratic Party Chairman Dan Logsdon equated McConnell's remark about the "Golden Girls" to a personal attack on Clinton. "Golden Girls" was a television series about four older women living in Florida that ran from 1985 to 1992.

(45,984 posts)First, the good news: is there anyone in the Republican Party who you would like to see as President, or even find tolerable? The member of the Bush family who appeared to have the most positive leadership capabilities, Barney, passed away earlier this year.
Now the bad news: apart from Mrs. Clinton, who says she's not interested, is there any Democrat you would really like to see run for President in 2016?

(10,893 posts)then where was he when people like Ron Paul and John McCain ran for president? Also Romney isn't exactly a spring chicken, either; he turned 66 a few days ago. His party has had a TON of people 65 and older running for president in recent years; Ron Paul, John McCain, Newt Gingrich, Herman Cain, and of course their 2012 nominee Willard Romney. Who is this Turtle-wannabee Senator to talk?
