To Democrats Who Don'T Want Filibuster Reform Because They're Afraid of What The GOP Will Do When

They Get A Majority, Let Me Put Your Mind At Rest. The Next Time Republicans Get A Senate Majority

THEY'RE GOING TO REFORM THE FILIBUSTER, YOU IDIOTS!

Listen up you jackasses in the Senate:

THIS IS THE PARTY THAT TRIED TO CRASH THE US ECONOMY over the DEBT CEILING to achieve their goals!

This is the party that filibustered gun safety laws despite 92% public support!

Do you SERIOUSLY believe they're going to RESTRAIN themselves from eliminating the filibuster the next time they're in power? Are you REALLY THAT STUPID?

The Filibuster is going to be eliminated. It's just a question of when. If you think that by leaving the filibuster intact now, and continuing to let Republicans block all Democratic Party initiatives, you're going to ensure that you can do the same thing the next time THEY'RE in power, you're dreaming in technicolor. The filibuster will last all of five minutes when Ted Cruz is the Senate Majority Leader, you morons.

REFORM THE FILIBUSTER NOW!

We need to get a campaign going to get all Democratic Senators on record as saying whether they'll vote for filibuster reform. At the moment Levin is the only one who says (on record) that he'll vote against it. We need to flood his mailbox with letter explaining now naive he is, and how he's only going to succeed in blocking Democratic Party initiatives, but not Republican ones.

But, they will probably wait till 2014 elections are over, and if we don't win a majority I don't know what they'll do next.

naive enough to think that maybe the Democrats will win 60 seats in 2014 so they can actually get things done, and then the crazy tea party Senators will eventually retire so they don't have to worry about this anymore? And then we can go back to the way things were, PRE-2008, where both parties in the Senate were able to compromise and behave reasonably?

Is that really what they THINK? That there's no need to reform the filibuster because we've PASSED the high water mark of Republican insanity and obstructionism, and things are going to get better?

they have a majority, and use Rand Paul's recent talking filibuster as an example of the way the filibuster was meant to work. There are a handful of Democratic Senators who are just too in love with their cushy lifestyle to want to change the filibuster back to the way it was originally. They don't want to have to bring a sleeping bag to their office and wait for the GOP to finish talking before they can hold a vote. They'd rather just put something out there, let the GOP filibuster it, and then shrug and say 'well I did the best I could' and piss off to their country club for some martinis.

Those Democratic Senators need to be exposed!

It's just plain stupid to sit and do nothing about the BS that republicans are pulling with their record breaking filibuster crap. Anyone that things the republicans would let democrats do this to them is simply living in an alternative reality!

Reed needs to end this crap and get something done!

Of course the Republicans will shit-can the filibuster when they get in power. Any idiot knows that and that includes Sen Democrats.

Here's how I see it. Democratic Senators get lots of money from the 1%. They get votes from the 99%. So how do they keep both happy? Even an idiot can figure that out (no offense to the conservatives among us). The Demo Senators vote for a bill that their constituents want but their sponsors dont, and not to worry, the Republicans save their asses because they have the filibuster. It's a win-win. Well if you dont count the constituents.

If the Demo Senators wanted reform, we would have it. They are tickled to death with the status quo.

Remember it's a win-win. Win for the sponsors and win for the Senators.

... who were not supporting the talking filibuster rule change. He wanted to keep those senators' identities that want the "best of both worlds" environment secret.

In my mind it was weird that Diane Feinstein at the same time was supposed to be rallying senate support for her assault weapons ban bill, but was OPPOSING the filibuster rule change then? WHY? Maybe, it's like you said, they want to manufacture the THEATER of them working for their constituents, but not being able to do anything about it when the Republicans filibuster the bill effectively to shut it down. As you noted "win, win" for DiFi, or at least the way she perceived it.

If our side was as good at using the filibuster as the GOP I might question the idea of changing it, but Dems in the Senate have a history of rolling over and giving the GOP everything they want, so theres nothing to lose*.

(*Except the excuse the filibuster gives them as to why they cant pass progressive legislation, but thats another story.)

one conservative and the other fascist. Democrats love the filibuster because when it's their turn to be in power, it permits them not to govern and also to maintain the illusion that they have a progressive agenda. When the Republicans are in power the Democrats won't filibuster because they basically support the Republican agenda but can vote against it, knowing they will lose but still maintain their progressive credentials without fear that anything will come of it.
