In Regard to Media Censorship and Police Terror in Turkey

1. Fixation on trivia...

... I always wonder, when I see those pix, why that cop was so pissed off at the lady in red that he singled her out for such treatment. I wonder if other people, when watching something that completely outrages them, also fixate on trivia as a means of deflecting, especially when the outrage is something one is helpless to do anything about.

In any event, that's one cop who needs to see the inside of a jail cell sometime.

That's just what men get to do in a militarized oligarchy. He would have done the same thing to a child or puppy.

3. You're exactly right. Here are two more examples of police brutality.

This video shows a woman asking the police to leave. She's alone, unarmed, and presents no threat to anyone. The police spray pressurized water directly at her, kicking her backwards by several feet. (There isn't much to see after the 1-minute mark.)

Here is a picture showing a woman's injuries after being beaten by the police. Apparently, she was sitting on the grass, waiting for the tear gas to dissipate, when she was attacked.
