President Obama once promised the "most transparent Administration ever" - so isn't it time we said goodbye to the policies of the Bush years? The surveillance state is even bigger - and scarier - than we thought.

(14,656 posts)creepy crawlies from its inception. If the government wants a big ol' database on its' citizenry why not combine all the data they all ready have: IRS, passport, immigration records, birth certificate records, marriage records, social security personal information, ad infinitum? Gee, they could get lots....I attended Indiana University 65-69 and my student number was my social security number! OR, we could "like" them if they set up a Facebook page....I know the latter is facetious but.....then they'd know who our friends are and wouldn't have to go to the trouble of data mining phone records. Which brings up another point. What terrorist would use a traceable phone today? These data collection systems (I consider them violators of my Fourth Amendment protection) are tenacles of corporations who are not one bit interested in my security. imho
I agree.....end Homeland Security and re-gain our sanity!
