Papantonio: South A Ticking Time Bomb for GOP

The following interview originally aired on the June 16th, 2013 episode of Ring of Fire on Free Speech TV. For decades, Republicans have been able to count on Southern states to deliver all the votes they need. But shifting demographics show us that Republicans are losing their grip in the South. Ring of Fire host Mike Papantonio speaks with attorney Howard Nations about the GOP losing their grips on southern voters.

still have a hold on the South, and the Mormons still have a hold in Utah. As we speak the GOPers are red districting and gerrymandering like crazy, along with disenfranchising minority voters. Hallelujah!

They should then be renamed the Sociopathic Corporate Axis of Militarism -- SCAM -- party. Add "Party" and SCAMP labels their members.

They can keep passing laws to restrict voting rights and keep gerrymandering districts, but it will come to a point where that will not work anymore. All those little brown kiddies are legal Americans and soon they will be old enough to register to vote. I hope I live to see the day that Texas goes back to blue and all the crazy right wings are locked in the hen house.

Voter intimidation at the polls comes to mind, so does recategorizing certain crimes as felonies or pushing for the felony in prosecution of minorities so they will lose their right to vote. Requiring ballots to only be in English too. They will just get more devious at coming up with these schemes so changing demographics don't hurt them as much.

it's hard to believe that a giant like Barbara Jordan could be elected. That great progressives have been silenced for so long. The gerrymandering of texas districts is not going to be overruled by a few brown babies unless those brown babies are really wealthy and can buy into mcmansion suburbs. perhaps that should be where democratic money goes. pool it and buy up those exclusive neighborhoods for those brown babies to live in and register to vote from. it's the only way to change the system.

Here they are saying that it is not just the Hispanics that could be tipping Texas blue in the not too distant future but the African-Americans could be tipping North Carolina, Georgia and Florida blue (with an assist from Hispanics). Couple that with the fact that the white population is shrinking and it paints a really grim future for Republicans on a national scale. Florida is already a must win for the GOP and they be on the verge of seeing that slip away permanently, leaving Republicans with no path to winning the Whitehouse and not even nominating a Rubio or Cruz can alter that path since Cubans are a small percentage of the Hispanic population.
