If you want a laugh, see what the tea baggers over in Freeperville are saying about "Tokyo Rove" and "RINO Lindsey McGraham"!

the Republican party is too far left, too far right, or ineffective?

If asked, I'd tend to say I disapprove of the job Democrats are doing, but that's because I don't think they're fighting hard enough and that many are too far to the right. But my disapproval of Democrats, in comparison to my disapproval of Republicans, is as a candle to a wildfire.

"If you disapprove, is it because:

A - it doesn't go far enough in helping people get affordable health care?

or

B - it goes too far in helping people get affordable health care?"

But then, it wouldn't fit the propaganda, would it?

Welcome aboard!

the welcome!

Yes, I agree completely. And with the ACA, you're going to get my Disapproval, but it's your option A.

I don't feel that it goes far enough, particularly when compared with working options worldwide that insure the health of almost every citizen of those nations.

If you asked the question in comparison with the big nothing we had before ACA, I'd have to say I approve. It seems like a potential quagmire in places, but it's a start.

If I could figure out how to up-rec a comment (if that can be done here at all), I'd have done so rather than make people read a thank you reply. Still, thank you.

The Businessweek article doesn't say.

Is it because the people polled think their party has swung too far right and has assumed a posture of complete all-or-nothing inflexibility as they engage in unyielding obstructionism in order to scorch the Earth until they can regain power?

Or, do they think their party isn't conservative or hardcore enough to have succeeded in enacting the whole, absolutist right wing agenda in spite of the clear Democratic majorities voted in at the last election?

My bet is the latter.

8. Actually, I'm guessing
Mon Jun 17, 2013, 12:47 PM

that Republican opinion is fragmented all over the place.

There are major inconsistencies and disagreements within the party. The split between the so-called "values voters" or social "conservatives" and the Wall Street Republican or economic "conservatives" is the best known, but that's just scratching the surface. The deeper you look the more divided they appear.

Democrats are divided too, but Democratic divisions are much closer to the surface because they are more openly debated.

Republicans, by hiding and papering over there differences, have caused those differences to fester. It is increasingly difficult for them to speak as with a single voice on any issue.

Republican problems are DEEP.

They have gone so far to the right that all that have left are grumpy old men, who hate everyone. Thank you Karl Rove, Rick Warren, David Burton, the Tea Party Racists, Ayn Rand, The Koch Brothers, Michelle Bachman, Donald Trump, Paul Ryan, David Addington, Bill O'Reily, Rush Limbaugh, The NRA, and the upper 1%! The Democrats couldn't have done it without you!

This poll, on the one hand, doesn’t tell us a lot … are they angry because they don’t think the gop is going far enough, too far, or what?
But on the other hand, those numbers are high enough that, whatever their reason for disapprove is, we can project a significant number will be voting for 3rd party (moderate republicans, or more extreme republicans) or staying home in 2014, which bodes well for Democrats … assuming, of course, those aligned with Democrats, don’t pull a “we’ll show them” stunt.

That 51% will most likely still vote for you because who else is there for them to turn to besides the evil, socialist fascist Democrats? Even the average wingnut is smart enough to know that no Libertarian or Constitutionalist will ever win an election.
