If Congress votes yes on attacking Syria, they are playing Russian Roulette with the entire world.
Congress knows that 91% of people polled are opposed to a war on Syria, that the top brass in the military doesn't support it.
Yet we know that Congress doesn't care about that. Congress doesn't represent us.
But Congress' own sense of self preservation should stop them from starting this war and possibly WWIII

(1,648 posts)I agree that it is absurd of our Empire to attack Syria. Why?
1. Attacking may easily and quickly widen this internal civil war into a regional or greater war.
2. There is no known evidence yet to blame one party for this chemical warfare attack.
3. The USA has used thousands of tons of napalm and agent orange, which of course are chemicals, therefore we are hypocritical in saying that this is "morally obscene".
4. Any unilateral non-UN sponsored actions are illegal.
5. What happened in Syria was contained within one sovereign nation, not our business.
6. Speaking of business, there are dozens of large pressing problems in the USA such as hunger, jobs, housing, health care, etc. We need to address these issues.
7. If we shoot cruise missiles at Syria, what will we accomplish?
8. These cruise missiles are reported to cost about $1.6 each, and this money could actually do good in our nation as opposed to killing Syrians and others (Russians?).
9. Every missile we shoot into Syria will fuel more potential terrorists, is this smart?
10. Voting to preserve President Obama's face (over Red Line comment) is not an adequate reason to waste $ and kill many, endangering the region and even the planet.

(8,821 posts)After watching the video, I reluctantly had to take it back. This sounds far too much like Tea Party inspired over-reach to me.
Though I am firmly against our attacking Syria, I will not be sending this video to anyone. Sorry, but I can't support this kind of over-the-top fear mongering.

(17,301 posts)This guy believes in the 2nd Amendment (and apparently no other Amendment as passionately) and believes Obama is building FEMA camps to put all RepubliCONS into.
I gave him a pass on the FEMA camps but the 2nd Amendment crap is just toooooo stupid. Really your little pea shooter is going to take down that drone you don't even see coming for you. The US Federal government has the best equipped military ever created by man. And these ignorant fools think their little guns are a match to the huge war machine developed by corporations and the US government. All they have to do is drop a few bombs on their hide outs and they are gone. And don't think for a minute they wont drop bombs on their own citizens. They did it to miners when they didn't like the union strikes, and the US government will do it to these silly little men who think their little guns are protection against a vast war machine.
No, if there is going to be a revolution, it has to be non-violent or it doesn't stand a chance in hell. A bunch of fools shooting up the streets do not inspire courage and commitment. But let a group of innocents stand up to the brutality of the state, and people are inspired and become active. It's the image of Tiananmen Square of the lone man standing up to the tank. That is what will cause a revolution.
