The War on Christmas - by Patriotic Right Wing Nuts

This display is so off the mark on what I was taught Christmas was when I was a kind. I am sad to say that it is in the town near where I live and that is apparently has won awards and has been "featured" on Good Morning America.

Warning - the stupid burns!

It's all about being American!

The subdivision where this light show was built when Jeb Bush took over Florida state government and is filled with Republicans that moved to Tallahassee to take advantage of the GOP handouts. I've met a few Democrats and Progressives that live there, but they seem out of place in that cookie cutter world.

And helping others. Of course, that is not how it is practiced or how it has been practiced for most of the history of the religion which is why I am no longer a Christian.

After looking at alternatives, I couldn't take the hypocrisy inherent in every religion I looked at so I'm pretty much an agnostic/atheist these days.

I mean, you're literally taking food out of his mouth, people! Please, this Christmas... Think of Lee Greenwood.

I've been impressed with these houses for the most part, at least on a technical level, since the first youtube video of one showed up flashing to a Trans-Siberian Orchestra Tune. This one I would skip.

But the music is horrible and it just is not a Christmas display. Of course, ALL of the Christmas light displays have little to do with Christ and a lot to do with the real reason for Christmas - merchandising crap.

And why am I using all compact fluorescent light bulbs and turning down thermostats to "save energy" in our community when excessive displays like this will use more electricity in one month than I use the entire year?

Up til a few years ago (because I think he just go too old), a gentleman filled his yard and the surface of the outside of his house with decorations and lights in honor of his deceased daughter, who loved Christmas. He started adding 1 or 2 things each year until he got to his current state. He did set up official boxes for various charities - canned food drives, toy drives, etc. because his house was popular on the limo tours. I got to go on both a limo tour and a helicopter light tour one Xmas - both the chauffeur and the pilot referred to it as the Griswold House. In the air, it looked like an entire lot was on fire.

They take a lot of planning, and electrical and computer knowledge.

In an older neighborhood in town one family started with Charlie Brown and the spindly Christmas tree and each year added new Peanuts characters. They made the figures themselves and did a really nice job of it.

By the time they were done they had every character that was ever in a Charlie Brown strip or animation and their yard was full. It was sad when they eventually sold their home and those characters stopped being one of our regular Christmas things to look forward to.

here's a little ditty on the subject
-----------------
Christmas Died?

Christmas died
because the rightwing tried
To stop Our side
from pointing out the fact
The ONLY one claiming
that Christmas has died
Are the very same stooges
who own the news media
In which Christmas is sold out cheap
starting back in July!
And we’re ALL sick of it
before Santa puts on his beard
and the reindeers fly!
