Essie Mae Washington-Williams dies at 87; black daughter of segregationist Strom Thurmond
In 2003 the retired L.A. schoolteacher unburdened herself of a secret: Her father was Sen. Strom Thurmond, the legendary South Carolina politician who had built a career as a champion of segregation.

...bullshit is still bullshit.

The Republicans have been very, very good at taking bullshit and selling it to the voters by wrapping it in God, Guns, Guts, the Flag and the Constitution.

of conviction, descended from a long and infamous lineage of such serpents, coiling adders like himself who kept him in office for decades. Cruz is a nothing like Helms. He is a shameless, pandering opportunist. In many ways, he's much worse and a far greater threat to civil society. Helms was the real, hissing, rattling deal. Cruz is just the slick product placement of political marketers who've decided to enlist Teddy in the Confederacy.

believe half the bullshit that was coming out of his mouth. Hell, so were the vast majority of the other reactionary Dixiecrats as well.

Cruz, for all his own crookery, maybe dangerous(that I would, but wouldn't be nearly as much as someone who marketed himself as the new Jesse Helms.....now THAT guy would be the IDOL of Teabaggers, Southern ones in particular.

His election campaigns were pure evil, to a degree that only perhaps Saxby Chambliss ever approached.

Ted Cruz has the potential to be one of the most dangerous men in the US. He is Joe McCarthy reincarnated, cold, caculating, and ruthless. Every time I see him, I get chills, like someone walking on my grave. The republicans need to rein him in, but they're too afraid to do anything. He's evil personified in my book.

Statements like that are one of the reasons Cruz will never occupy the Oval Office as President. He's far too extreme for most of the voting population. While he may be a darling of the Tea Bagger right he's not going to make it considering most of the US is not so stupid when they vote. The clear evidence of that is two-term President Obama.

Where they line us up and shoot the intellectuals, minorities and gays into the river. They hate Obama and the liberals 10 times more than Assad and Putin and the Muslim brotherhood combined.
