2. If the number of people throwing paper into the case is any indication

that dog is dining on steak and that man will die rich.

Only a couple of people gave the doggie a pet. That seems a little strange to me. Her yodeling made the performance special.

3. I've never seen that many people giving money to a street musician in such a short time.

I've only seen people who walk past, smile politely, with
every 25th person throwing in a dime or two. Like that.

4. I have. They had to be really good, though.

They also had to have a really prime spot like this guy has.

5. I gave an airport musician a 50 dollar bill once

I hadn't been sleeping well and was very tired and wired; I felt miserable awaiting a late flight but listening to some of his lovely violin melodies calmed me down

6. that's what they deserve,

in my opinion. I think of how easy it is to waste
a few dollar bills, but it is just as easy to give them
to somebody.

I gave $20 to a homeless guy who was playing
a severely beaten up saxophone. He did not know
how to play but was managing a few melancholy
notes and I would have given him a hundred $ if
I'd had it. Someone had thrown the instrument out.
He figured, might as well learn to play.

9. I wonder if they split the take 50-50...

...since they're both pretty good musicians - a good relationship for both, friendship and a good income.

I took two years of Russian in college and have acquired reasonable fluency in Dogish from my five canine companions, but I can't merge to understand the lyrics the dog is singing.

In honor of a dog and his human best friend, a song by Joni Mitchell:

Thanks for the post, kpete.

10. Poignant

I'm glad to see that quite a few people were giving him something.
