1. Steve you are a better man than I
I think that once the ACA sinks in and takes effect in real life for average Americans, the current Republican Propaganda will be perceived as treason or crimes against humanity.
Hyperbole, but when the ACA becomes the norm the Republican brand will be lower than communists. -90% Jimmy |

19. I think so too. 30 million will get health insurance who didn't have it before.
Everyone will know someone who was in that spot. Another several million will have better plans than they had before and can get routine checkups for free.
The key right now is to push back in a couple of key spots and keep pushing back. There aren't enough voices doing that right now. |

24. They are getting surprisingly little push back right now.
I don't remember the exact quote Michael J. Fox' character made in that movie where Michael Douglas played the President but it was along the lines of in the absence of alternate choices people will believe whoever is speaking.
For whatever reason, Republicans have had the field almost to themselves these last 2-3 months. People, specifically prominent Democrats, have to start speaking up. |

6. Often yes; but in this case, not so.
When you get someone on the program who keeps their head and doesn't get into a shouting match with the likes of bolling or kelly or bor....and get the facts out on the table, the fox-trolls may look like they've made their case, but I beg to differ.
I would NEVER waste my time on the vannity Obama-bash-hour however. That turd will shout over you and insult your presence at every step. At least these light-weights give the progressive guests a chance to speak....and that's all we need. |

20. I think that is the key in any situation where you are a bit of an underdog in a debate.
You get those one or two factual talking points in that simply can't be refuted. I think I introduced one that is semi-new regarding the election. Why should we give more seats to a party that refuses to work to fix something?
That along with talking up the economy should be the two points the Democrats use this election. Draft bills fixing whatever issues come up with the ACA and then dare the Republicans to sign or not sign them and/or come up with other versions/ideas. If they do vote to fix the ACA, then their entire rationale for why they should be voted in dies with the passage of the bills. If they don't work with Democrats to fix whatever comes up with the ACA, why should they be rewarded with more seats? The situation will be the same after the election. They cannot repeal ACA. They are not going to get 67 senate seats that they would need to overcome a veto. |

4. Right on bolling and fields...
"When Americans see how bad their insurance is with the ACA...." Uh huh? EVERY policy I've heard about is BETTER. OURS is BETTER! Cheaper and better. Not ALL are going to be cheaper; because some of them were worthless policies for catastrophes only. So that BS doesn't hold water at all.
Also, the fact that up to 40,000,000 uninsured are finally going to have health care might have an effect on whether or not we want to elect someone who wants to yanks away our health care and return to the old worthless policies of old. Get serious. This is almost funny. |

21. Thank you. And my erstwhile debate opponents knew the danger of that point when I made it
you could tell.
I'm going to call my contacts in the elected leadership and various campaign groups on Monday. I think this is the point that needs to be driven home. You don't like several aspects of the ACA? Great. That's why you are in congress, to help fix it. Let's draft some bills to do that. What? You wont? Well, we Democrats will do that for you. Here are the bills, all you have to do is vote Yea. What? You wont do that either? Why should you be rewarded with more seats? If they think the bill is bad and needs fixing, exactly how does not working to do that demonstrate that you should be the majority in either house? This is an effective trap that can be sprung on the GOP here. |

11. I'm glad we can always count on the Republicans . . .
The numbers aren't great right now, and that is disturbing. I'm glad we can always count on the Republicans to shoot themselves in the foot (and then stick it in their mouth).
The Republicans, in other words, would have a great chance to take the Senate next year, except for the Republican candidates they'll be forced to run. Those cracker, hillbilly, redneck wing nuts don't usually do so well in state-wide races. |

14. sorry but that wasnt a good job
they had you agreeing with them and then cut you off before you could really make a point. I know they are good at that but you have to be ready.
1st never answer the question they ask. Use the subject of their question to make good points on that topic. That lady was saying things that were not true at all. You didnt even mention that the reason they are losing the ins. they had is because its junk ins. She said the ins. they are getting is worse coverage. Thats not true. Better luck next time. Thanks for trying to fight the fight for us all. Good Luck in the future. Also when she said do away with the whole bill that would have been a prefect time to say " If you do away with the whole bill you lose this from the bill..." Then name off all the good things. (kids on Ins until 26, no limits, preexisting conditions...etc ) |

31. Oh what a lovely mess we make,
when at first we practice to triangulate.
So half-assed health insurance reform worked as well as the half-assed stimulus - a little bit helpful but looking bad to most Americans. The good news is that the FDR Democrats will bail the party out - they won't be responsible sensible adults who are above the fray, and they won't have Jamie and Lloyd on speed dial, but they will turn our country around. |
