(32,723 posts)People FREAK over the idea of something living in the water but they DON'T freak over diving into water that is incapable of supporting life.

(28,928 posts)I find that cool! I guess they mean it's natural in the sense it doesn't need chlorine and acid to keep it clean. But I agree that the term "natural" is usually BS. In my opinion everything is natural to a sense because the universe just is and as products of the universe, everything we create is natural. Everything is just a shit load of protons and neutrons and some times when people put them together they are good for you and sometimes they are not just as with plants in a forest.

(40,416 posts)I'll repeat that the term natural is a meaningless marketing term. Anybody who falls for the natural ploy is being sold a bill of goods.

(28,928 posts)are on websites full of propaganda and you can bet most of the time the people selling the stuff don't even believe in what they are selling. They are just trying to make a buck and what better way to reel in the suckers than say it's all fucking natural. But they take it a lot further than that. They say the Gov. is lying and really wants you dead and doctors don't know anything. They say they have a cure for cancer but the Gov. doesn't want you to know about it because cancer is a money maker for drug companies etc. I have a relative who keeps trying to get me on this fucking young living essential oils BS. They claim this product Goji Berry is the miracle food. It took me about five minutes to check up on the company and found it was run by a crook / conman and that there is ZERO peer review science behind any of the products. http://www.quackwatch.org/11Ind/young.html
However, even though I showed them all this proof the guy was a crook and there was no real science behind his claims they got all offended and claimed I was being taken by the Gov.
Here is a great video I found on Goji scams but the distributor is different from Young Life. Look at how many thumbs downs the video got. I guarantee you the people caught up in their cult are the ones rating it down:
However, as for the "natural" pond in my OP, I just think it's cool and it would be neat to have a pool that attracted wildlife and had frogs and salamanders in it. Just good fun. I don't have a problem with the chemicals in swimming pools though.

(11,085 posts)Around here in Michigan, beaches frequently close because of too much natural biological activity polluting the water.
What could be more natural than getting bloody flux from some infectious disease?

(1,269 posts)They are pretty common in Europe, just catching on here. The plant life filters instead of chlorine. And then you are swimming in a pretty natural environment, instead of the pool-like one. They still use elec, as I recall, to aerate. They look pretty complicated to build, as compared to a regular pool, but I'd like to try putting one in anyhow. We picked up a Case backhoe last year, that was the last missing piece. Just a big backyard pond, is all that it is.
