My dear Lord. What these people suffered. I am so disgusted with the history of the "deep South". I actually relish the information that Sherman burned Georgia to the ground on his way through, and the South paid a devastating toll for their involvement in the Civil War. My only reservation for festering with my hatred and anger is that "I don't honestly know how I would have acted...", had I been born during that time and lived in that horrid place. We'd all like to think we would have been the one who stood up for justice; but the reality is quite different from what we might like to believe. The same as you can say for growing up under Hitler's reign in Germany. You just don't know.
