(14,449 posts)This might not be so funny if we lose the Senate especially by a big margin. We MUST get out to vote in 2014.

(14,449 posts)We had about 3 percent of Democratic voters show up on Tuesday for Texas. Yes thank God Wendy won the primary but crazy Republican Abbott had about 2/3rd more votes than Wendy. It is IMPERATIVE that we all show up to vote or it is not going to be pretty for us in 2015. I don't know how to scream it louder. We HAVE to keep the Senate and take the House in 2014!!!!!!!!! I hope Tuesday was a wake up call for Democrats. I really do!

(4,695 posts)Even the Wall Street Journal agrees that there was a January rise in consumer spending and American income growth because of the 2010 health care law. House Republicans are out of touch with Americans and in touch with their corporatist masters.

(6,436 posts)everything that smacks of a positive - "I think we can solve this problem" - attitude.
It's a terrible place to be, being devoid of initiative - born of being devoid of true hope. It's a nothingness that any human desperately wants to avoid. Republicans replace the nothingness in their beaten spirits by being against something. Since the democrats are always engaging the world, looking for ways to make any situation better, they are often targetted by Republican nihilism. Republicans, by being against something, manage to give themselves a sort of ersatz life. It's a pathetic replacement for living with a positive, hopeful attitude. This doesn't mean, by the way, that people who have a positive, hopeful attitude don't ever get frustrated or feel disconsolate now and then, they do. But they always 'come back' with an renewed attitude of 'let's try to do something to improve the situation'. Republicans hate this in other people because they know, being zombies, it's something they will never experience.
