(5,069 posts)Expression of diverse views is often not heard by US news services. TRNN and Democracy Now have had in depth coverage and avoid the biases of US MSM. Those independent news sources within the US that I have heard have had US guests such as Ambassador Jack Matlock, Paul Craig Roberts, and Ray McGovern among others who would agree with Malic in that this is about Russian strategic interests (threats from NATO expansion since the end of the Cold War) as well as tactical (ports in Sevastopol) interests. In that view, US and Western support for the rightwing coup was a misjudgment of how Russia would react. They also would agree that the IMF solution will be one of austerity which will result in transfer of Ukrainian wealth (land, resources, currency) to western corporations and not be in Ukraine's long term interests. The academics I have heard have stated that both Russia and the West have made the case for international law - and both sides have flaws or wrinkles in their applications and precedents.
As to independence of RT - even yesterday on the discussion of the Liz Wahl expose Mike Papantonio stated that he was under no pressure to not speak independently on this station.

I thought Malic was particularly interesting...of course, maybe that's because I agree with him. As for the IMF....probably can't wait to get its teeth into Ukraine. I don't see how the U.S. misjudged Russia's pov.
Makes me think they knew exactly what Russia would do and wants to make Russia the bad guy. Time will tell.

His reply: "...It's not really about Crimea or Ukraine, it's about a world monetary system, a financial world monetary system, which is in a state of absolute collapse..." . . . . "...More important than what's happening in Ukraine is the fate of the international world monetary system, and the Western powers, in particular the United States but also the European Union, pushed by a certain British consortium of domination of the center of Europe, pushed for what happened in Ukraine..."
He seems to be fingering international banksters as being the driving force behind this. I think he's right and also that this wouldn't be the first time they've been the puppet masters causing/orchestrating major world crisis and war. I think the banksters are in panic mode and are now becoming increasingly dangerous to ALL of humanity.
Thanks for posting ST.

(14,656 posts)regard as rumor, that the FED is insolvent.....but the continuation of the tapering may be an indicator (?)....imho.
I need to re-watch the video. In the beginning I did not think Jacques was near where he was when he made the statement you quoted. The statement was clear though, wasn't it?
Storm Clouds Gathering's videos are packed with info. Wish they made even more. Thanks for posting this one!

(8,559 posts)... English is clearly not Jacques' first language but I understood him to be pointing the finger directly at behind-the-scenes banksters whose nest of origin he indicated resides in the City of London.
