TYT: Missing The Point On #CancelColbert, It's What Conservatives Do

"A now-deleted tweet from the account linked to his show The Colbert Report has comedian Stephen Colbert on the defensive, saying he wasn't aware who wrote the post that aimed to mock Asian stereotypes and was reportedly taken out of context from a recent show

Stephen Colbert has built his career out of playing the overly offensive character we all know and love on The Colbert Report. But while most viewers realize his non-PC humor and even downright offensive gags are satire, his character's nuance can get lost on Twitter. Case in point: a tweet from his Colbert Report account attempted to mock Asian stereotypes and, instead, caused real offense and spawned a #CancelColbert hashtag."* Cenk Uygur, Ben Mankiewicz (What The Flick?!), Dave Rubin (Rubin Report) and Wes Clark Jr break it down on The Young Turks.

#0 sez: "My take away? Michelle Malkin is sticking up for Snydley."

"PS: Suddenly right wingers are outraged over a racial insensitivity? I'll bet Malkin listens to Pig Boy every day, and she has yet to start a #CancelRush hashtag. #FAIL."

about offending the sensibilities of Asian Americans.

This faux outrage is ridiculous especially when you consider the fact that people like Malkin are first in line to defend people who make non-satirical, racially insensitive comments.

It's like they said in the video, apparently, the first amendment only applies to racists. People who mock racism not so much.

I would recommend this post, but I think the #drama has been going on too damned long for all of this.

Amazingly, DU was one of the few places I didn't see some kind of crazy word-war over this.

The problem with people who play the "free speech" card to defend controversial speech is that they'll use that term only for speech that doesn't inconvenience their own worldview or personality.
