It is still tonnes of this, from WW1 and WW2 still all over the old continent - who now and then cames to the surface as the ground rise and fall and the granats and the rest of explosives are coming to the surface... For the most part people know what to do and it is disposed of in a safe way - but sometimes accident happened - and granates blow up - and maim and kill people more than 100 year after the war ended (well technically it is 95 year since he war ended)..

Even 70 year after WW2, the expert on it, have to dispose of weapons from WW2 in Norway - and even if it is a few accidents every year - it is still very well a danger to life and health sometimes..
