I didn't see so much support for Apartheid South Africa when I was young and certainly not in liberal circles. But strangely there are a fair number of people here that come down on Israel's side. It should be obvious why that is.

and "here" is DU or the country?

In the general American public it is far more than just a fair number of people that side with Israel.
