going back to the El Salvador civil war days. Along with a chapter on who buys drugs in this country (which leads to a hell of a lot of violence in Central/South America) ...

The war crimes of the 80s, IranContra, Bush cocaine smuggling and Bill Clinton aiding Bush Sr in the cover up? And we can thank Hillary and Lanny Davis for the right wing corporate coup in Honduras. We need to purge our party of centrist Corpiratists. Anyone pushing for Hillary in 2016 needs to take a long look in the mirror. Supporting her is beneath you...don't give in to the status quo...we should still be fighting to make the world a better place and that egotistical deceiver has made me want to throw up in my mouth one too many times. Please run Elizabeth Warren.

A secure and safe environment. Presumably they told him everything was A-OK during an elevator ride up to the executive suite. Therefore, no need to flee from danger. Problem, what problem?

Pearce was 'my' US Rep, then Dem Harry Teague actually beat him. Otero County is just one of the many counties he represents and our County Commission openly supports Bundy, tried to order our Sheriff to cut open a fence the US Forest Service has put up on Forest land..and just tried to sever all contracts with the USForest Service:
..."I would like to make a motion that we drop all contracts with the United States Forest Service," Rardin said. "I don't want to be part of anything (the USFS) do because I truly believe they're a tyrant government that does not listen to the people."

Rardin said he was tired of putting forth so much effort to cooperate with the USFS when the agency doesn't reciprocate with the same level of consideration or cooperation.

Rardin pointed out that the USFS released a special closure order on Wednesday in the Wills Canyon Maulding Spring riparian area in the Lincoln National Forest's Sacramento Ranger District without consulting the commission...

AND/BUT, in the same issue is this:

"Several members of the community have found a safe place and a sense of camaraderie in discussing what has probably become a taboo subject — racism in America.

Discussion leader Chris Jones said after a year of attending meetings with the local NAACP he asked if people were interested in forming a group to talk about racism in America. Now in its fourth year, Jones said the group gathers people of different races in the same room. He said the group allows people to talk about racism and say "this happened to me" because it is never openly talked about...Shaughn Marlowe, a local author and transgender participant with the group, said the meetings aren't just about one segment of the population.

"It is about anybody who is socially oppressed," Marlowe said.

Go back to bed America. Keep watching Fox News and listen to Alex Jones and Rush Limbaugh and believe everything they tell you.

I know there is a poetry group, but I thought perhaps this would be okay for this thread. Apologies if it is not.

Maria, Maria, where are you bound?
America is not what you hope.

Maria, Maria, why do you weep?
This is the world we have made.

Maria, Maria, can you forgive?
Hated and denied
Where you go, you go with God.

Did you write it? It also reminds me of a song, so maybe those are the lyrics. Los Lobos has some great songs with similar themes.

This jackass Pearce's obnoxious attitude toward immigrants also reminds me of a song by Lou Reed, called Dirty Boulevard. Some of the lyrics go something like this:

Give us your tired your poor we'll piss on 'em
That's what the statue of bigotry says
