Pieper was about to do a report on the need for school crossing guards when he said the words that will doubtless have a huge impact on his career.
And Dave wants you to also mention that parents do their f jobs and walk their little kids to school on their own and not rely on everyone else. Kind of like people rely on government assistance for their entire lives. And bye Felicia. I actually added the part about government assistance but its true. I mean, how old are these kids? Pieper said.
The ridiculous Amy Yensi laughed and said, I think I qualify for government assistance.
Just check that box, girl, Pieper said.
Yensi popped off with EBT, an acronym for Electronic Benefits Transfer cards.

The station issued a lame apology.
As a result of a technical error during a program break this morning, a personal conversation between an anchor and a reporter was unintentionally placed on air, the note read. News 12 the Bronx deeply regrets that this incident took place. The remarks of these individuals in no way reflect the views of News 12 management or other News 12 personnel.

(10,494 posts)broadcast as well! Loved the guy saying he just worked his last day. Irony would be him on public assistance now. Maybe after the FCC fine he will be!

(12,608 posts)is how people who think like him assume all those people in that neighborhood are on govt assistance, or don't work. Many of the parents in that neighborhood work and they children walk to school alone, with their siblings or with their grandmothers in the mornings. If the parents do walk them to school they go to work right after they drop them off. I watch news 12 daily and he reports for the Bronx. Majority of the neighborhood is black and Latino. Now we all know how he really feels about the neighborhood he reports about. This morning he was not on. good.he doesn't need to be there.

(1,727 posts)walk their kids to school because they have to work to support their families?
If they weren't working, he'd be shitting on them for that too.
Thanks Rupert Murdoch, for normalizing this kind of vitriol in the public discourse.

(1,727 posts)America. Never in my life have I heard somebody complain about the existence of crossing guards much less equate it to government assistance in a pejorative sense.

(6,241 posts)that he was able to pull off that hat trick by accident in an under 2 minute conversation. I'd buy him a beer he can drink while working on his resume.
Bravo, dude.

The banter continued, with Yensi chiming in: I think I qualify for government assistance. To which, Pieper replied, Just check that box, girl, initiating Yensi to add: hashtag EBT, a reference to EBT Electronic Benefit Transfer cards ie. food stamps.

How anyone can watch this guy present the news any longer is beyond me. I don't care who you are, you are at your job, hot mic or no hot mic, and you are representing the public in a public speaking job.

(6,241 posts)Why don't people carry flashlights around everywhere and stop relying on the city to take care of them?? And why can't people load up their own pick-up trucks every day and drive 20 miles to the nearest landfill? And why can't we get people to direct their own traffic? Ugh. And it makes me sick that people can't just buy themselves 10,000+ books and have to go to the library all the time. Get off your butt and go to Barnes and Nobels, people, sheesh. Clean up your own roadkill. Solve your own murders and robberies. Inspect your own food. Fix your own potholes. Inspect your neighbor's car.
I'm not actually serious. Just taking this guy's comments a little further. I'm sure there are other examples.

(8,203 posts)news anchors? Someone mentioned here how did this guy got around to Govt. assistance from a story re: crossing guards..how do they equate the two?
Well, a short short - I stopped at a convenience store in "AZ" this week - a young man who looked like he belonged to the "brothers of the brush" had a sign on his hatchback "I get up in the morning just to pay for those on welfare" - I just shook my head and said "whatever", considering you just don't know what nuts are going to do -
I say bring back the draft just for this one person - and lets see what he has to say about getting up in the morning....

(322 posts)is to stop giving the corporations your money. It's the only power we have left. And it starts with cutting your cable TV. The whole machine is connected to it - advertising (including political), programming violence and uber-patriotic BS, all going into your retina and mind, unfiltered. Pull the TV needle out of your arm - that's what Mario Savio called "putting your bodies on the gears." Everyone must certainly notice how right-wingers complain that poor people in the U.S. can afford television. You know what would happen if all those poor people stopped paying for cable, along with a bunch of the rest of us? Revolution! I bet their attitudes would change quick fast and in a hurry! The lower classes in this country are literally feeding the BS fantasy machine. Stop it and you stop them!
