could be much better spent out there knocking on doors, raising funds, and getting someone who actually wants to run for your particular set of ideals. Of course, that would mean leaving the comfort of your well worn barcalounger, and I understand that's much harder than logging on here to kvetch about Democrats. Best of luck to you.

29. I am disappointed that you choose to disparage me personally in lieu of discussing actual issues.

But I hold an elected office in my county Democratic Party not that it will make a difference to you. Our blue collar county is strongly Democratic and has been for years. My HoR Rep is a young progressive Democrat that has taken over for his predecessor (also a Democrat) that held the office for over 35 years. When I started being active I helped the campaigns of Sen Warren Magnison and Sen Henry Jackson and have been active ever since. My state has two very strong Democratic Senators. I also support two progressive organizations, active in one, that promote progressive ideals and candidates from outside the Party.

You said: "your particular set of ideals", as if they differ from your ideals. I would be very much interested in how you think my ideals differ from yours?

as "third way corporatists", and claiming that some spookey group, you've labeled as "conservatives calling themselves Democrats". What about so-called liberals "calling themselves Democrats" for the purpose of posting on sites like this?

So, I hope you'll spare me your feigned indignation. You could've added your comment, without the gratuitous backhand at other Democrats, but you chose to "disparage" an entire group of people who have voted with their feet & their dollars, who have built & sustained the Democratic Party infrastructure for decades. So count me as completely unimpressed.

36. Going along with the conservative crowd is the easy way.

Don't challenge the ever-growing NSA/CIA Security State, don't challenge Wall Street corruption, don't challenge attacks on SS and Medicare, don't challenge attacks on our environment, don't challenge the widening wealth gap, don't challenge fracking and cross country pipelines, or coal trains, don't challenge damaging "Free Trade" trade agreements, etc. I hope you don't think that people don't challenge the overreach of the oligarchy are "moderates". These are conservative ideals that they won't challenge.

You are living in dream land if you believe that the conservatives of the Party " have built & sustained the Democratic Party infrastructure for decades." THEY USED TO BE REPUBLICANS. The Democratic Party infrastructure at the national level has been purchase by Goldman-Sachs and their brethren for a few pieces of gold and that's just ok with you. After all Goldman-Sachs isn't so bad. They gave $500,000 to the Clinton charity. It's a small price for ripping off the 99% for billions and it's tax deductible. Win-win for the American Aristocrats.

I disparage those that hide under their beds afraid to fight for their liberties and freedoms and rationalize it by calling themselves "moderates". Those that think if they side with the big bully oligarchy, they will be spared.

Tell me what ideals you think I have that you disagree with.

45. I'm the reason? Really? I have that power? We need a liberal in the WH and that you

would suggest that Pres Obama is a liberal shows how far to the right the DEmocratic Party has moved.

Liberals don't support fracking.

Liberals don't support "Free Trade" agreements.

Liberals don't threaten to cut SS or Medicare benefits.

Liberals don't expand the Great Mid Eastern War.

Liberals don't support the XL Pipeline.

Liberals don't look the other way regarding Wall Street corruption.

Liberals don't persecute medical marijuana users.

On edit I can't leave out that liberals don't persecute whistle-blowers.

I could go on, but maybe it'd be easier if you explained why you think Pres Obama is liberal.

Democrat, I don't feel the need to use this open forum, with a mission statement of "Electing Democrats", to pick apart every decision he makes. Fortunately, I have other outlets for that. I didn't vote for him (TWICE) because he was a liberal. He was left of center, and that's plenty good enough for me.

you meant the current President. I stand corrected. I am a strong Democrat and share the mission of "electing Democrats". However, I will not support those that merely call themselves Democrats but support conservative policies like fracking, the Patriot Act and the Great Continuous War in the Middle East. And I won't blindly follow anyone and would really like to understand why anyone calling themselves a Democrat would.

Interesting that you see Pres Obama as left of center while almost all of his appointments are right of center.

shy away from threads like this: http://www.democraticunderground.com/10025600533 where Robert Reich makes a great point. Don't any of you have an opinion? You're usually not afraid to speak up when you disagree. Now it looks to me like the President is placing a much higher priority on continuing the Great Middle East War than on those issues that Mr. Reich speaks of. Now I am sure some here will explain that the Congress won't fix the problems at home and they would have a point, but if it were me, and Congress was forcing me to place a higher priority on fighting a hopeless war vs. helping our own 99%, I would go before America and explain it. Tell America exactly what Congress is doing. Ask America if that's what they want.

56. Doesn't seem to matter much what you "don't like", now does it? Some things are beyond you.

For instance, you somehow extrapolated my concept of not trashing the President in an open forum that is routinely visited by trolls, to 100% agreement? When & if I disagree with him, I won't use an open forum, supposedly dedicated to electing Democrats, to try & weaken him. I won't do it to Obama, and I won't do it to the next Democratic president.

It's the internet, and you never know who you're talking to. It could be a Green, a Larouchie, or a teabaggin' undercover troll like "Better Believe It", or other assorted crackpots. I won't give them what they're after.

Don't be a wingnut (right-wing or extreme-fringe).

Democratic Underground is an online community for politically liberal people who understand the importance of working within the system to elect more Democrats and fewer Republicans to all levels of political office. Teabaggers, Neo-cons, Dittoheads, Paulites, Freepers, Birthers, and right-wingers in general are not welcome here. Neither are certain extreme-fringe left-wingers, including advocates of violent political/social change, hard-line communists, terrorist-apologists, America-haters, kooks, crackpots, LaRouchies, and the like.

57. Your rationalization has some major holes. If you don't always agree with the president

but save your disagreements for private discussions, why do you so actively disparage those that might be critical of some of the President's policies? Why don't you simply ignore them? By disparaging the left you are in fact giving the Right-Wing what they want.
Most of the things I disagree with the President are issues that the Right-Wing agrees with him. How is my saying that I don't like the Patriot Act helping the RightWing?

And I think your fear of having a discussion with someone that might turn out to be a "bad person" is a shame. I think it is educational to have discussions with anyone that will have an honest discussion. If someone is obnoxious I can simply ignore them. The interesting thing is that I have more trouble with those that think their idolization of the President gives them a self-righteous right to be rude. They will not discuss many important issues for fear of not agreeing with the President.

50. Didn't say that. The Republican Party is just a tool of the oligarchs.

It would be nice to think that the conservatives of this country were idiots like the Republicans they sponsor. But conservatives have found that they can buy into the Democratic Party and successfully fool lots of people that will support fracking if a Democrat supports it. Look at Pres Obama's appointments. Almost all are conservatives. Some are Democrats and some are Republicans, but almost all are conservative. Wall Street is tickled to death with Pres Obama and looking forward to another friendly Democrat in HRC.

Those that think the war is between Democrats and REpublicans are naive. The war is between conservatives (supporting the 1%) and the left (supporting the 99%).

The numbers in the title of my post are the number of children Ben Carson, Ted Cruz, and Mike Huckabee have respectively. I realize that only Cruz has it listed that he thinks birth control is the same as abortion inducing drugs, but I assume both Carson and Huckabee (especially Huckabee) also oppose birth control. If these men oppose birth control why is it that none of them have more than three children? How did these men and their wives avoid having ten plus kids? Is it possible that each of these men were able to structure their sex lives around the time their wives were least likely to get pregnant? Did all of these men and/or their wives become infertile after the second, or third child?
