And the American people don't ask why deny terminally ill people that right to die in dignity? Unbelievable.

I personally have found tremendous benefit in getting just 20 minutes of exercise a day.

"Ex pharma sales rep Gwen Olsen says Big Pharma only interested in profits, not health"

This is inflammatory nonsense, spread by a woman who used to be in SALES.
Not research and development, SALES.

When I last visited my doctor, she insisted that I start taking antidepressants when I was not even depressed. Then she put a phoney diagnosis "Major Depression" in my medical records!

I have had a terrible experience with the pharmaceutical industry. What she says sounds true to me.

But a quick Google search will find you lots of links between Gwen Olsen and Scientology.

So while it is true that Pharma is pushing meds where they aren't appropriate, the idea that they don't actually work for those in need is just propaganda.

so I can't give an informed opinion about them...but the rest of it? The aim of big pharma being disease maintenance and symptom management? All too true I think. Even the OTC stuff is all about making you feel better by reducing symptoms, not about attacking the problem, or helping your body fight whatever it is.

However, my Canadian pharmacist always helps me understand when a particular drug (in my case, pain medication) is not helpful and could be harmful. Drugs are not always the answer. Try finding a drug that will reduce nerve pain effectively with few dangerous side effects.

First, pharmaceutical products have a major role in curing diseases by proper use, such as antibiotics and steroids. These are meant to get the very sick patient through an acute phase of disease management.

Second, many in health care either under-prescribe, over-prescribe, or mis-manage patients with the wrong drug regimen. Example is to prescribe for symptoms, rather than seek special assessment so you don't do either of the above.

Then, there's anti-depressants… A proper method of treatment for, say, depression is not JUST to prescribe an array of drugs, but to use a three prong approach the patient (psycho-therapy, exercise and drug management with the long term goal of reducing the 3rd).

We have some physicians giving less than great advice out there, which is pretty scary if you think about it.

The NUMBER ONE thing is education for humans about their bodies. It's unbelievable how ignorant many of us are. And, since we can't know EVERYTHING, get second opinions while trying to educate yourself.

I think someone here alluded to scientology and this person in the video. If that's true, I find it kind of interesting that they wouldn't have said remove all pharmaceuticals. If this person is burnt out by big pharma, I can understand that, too. The reason they get paid so well is that they are SELLING. In our current health care system… it's really sick care that sells. The health you get is taken from the interest you have in taking care of yourself.

Thank you Gwen Olsen for being brave and telling the truth! How more reliable a source can we get then from a 15 year veteran out in the field?! I have been saying this for years, but I don't have any first hand knowledge like she does, I just always have believed natural ways are the best. And boy have I taken an earful just from my own family....But I've stuck to my guns and have never taken pharmaceuticals ever...I have always gone the homeopathic route and I feel it has helped to enhance my life. And yes, exercise IS great medicine!!!

Maybe the best I ever felt was after I quit taking Paxil- while they were pushing me to up my dosage. Then about 10 years later they linked it to increased risk of suicide. Fuckin' garbage.
