Abby Martin on Detroit Bankruptcy (two part series)

There is very little coverage of the struggle of the people of Detroit against the oligarchy in America's corporate controlled media. Abby Martin has been an outstanding exception to this trend by showing the story from the point of view of the victims of Governor Snyder and EM Orr instead of the corporate benefactors of this scam against the people.

We need more examples of the dictatorship of the 1% like this. The level of inequality America has reached cannot be maintained without a police state, and that is what Michigan appears to have become.

I think that we are Progressive, here on DU ....but often we lapse for lack of posts that challenge.

The "MSM" seems to still be what people go to and still thinking that "trashing Fox News" is what sustaining Democracy is all about here in the USA. Defeating idiot Trolls and Misinformed on the Right...is all we seem to care about as the "Democracy" of America that we grew up believing is threatened and corrupted by the very people we rally behind.

Anyway...it's just my humble opinion.

Fly Over and all the Rest of States are dealing with the mess of 2008 Melt Down..and the Banksters Thrive.

The Banksters Thrive while the Power of the East Coast MIC/Wall Street and West Coast "Silicon Valley" ...lols...Entrepreneurs...Rake in the Bags of Money from the East Coast "Hedge Funds" and the MSM Megaphone.

"All is Good in "Recovery America" if you live in those two "high Power economies" .....but, not so much if one lives in the Other States in the USA.

7. your taste for RT has lost you from gaining a great deal of credibility, sir

But the central appeal of RT is to leftists, libertarians, conspiracy theorists, and other marginalized groups. The main thematic work of RT is to paint the West in the worst possible light, as decadent, corrupt, and failing – the Cohen method of defense-by-implication. RT’s deep coverage of the Occupy protests and harsh coverage of American politics and life in general offers a platform to critics who are denied respectful treatment in the U.S. media. They are bound, above all, by a desire to get on television.

The demise of communism has left a void in the place where socialist fervor once animated the Soviet dupes. In the absence of any positive motivating force, Putin’s Russia, which has positioned itself as America’s main rival, has sponged up whatever motley collection of outsiders it can find. Russia is not the vessel for their ideological fantasies, but merely a placeholder for their accumulated discontent.

I'm a leftist, but I thought you paid more attention than to imply that I'm a Putin dupe. For one thing, I don't think Putin is a leftist.

Yes, I admit that I often see America as "decadent, corrupt and failing." My warning is that income inequality, maintained by the outright bribery of officer holders in all three branches of government, will destroy American democracy and tear America apart. This kind of inequality, mandated from the top down, can only be maintained with a police state. The name Putin does not enter into the reasoning by which I draw that conclusion. As far as I am concerned, Putin is just another decadent and corrupt tyrant who is, unfortunately, exceptionally skilled as misdirecting the blame for his country's problems away from his corrupt leadership. However, Putin's sins stand on their own, independent of the sins of the Koch brothers and other right wing billionaires and their pet politicians whom they keep well bribed whose campaign war chests they keep well financed.

So, since you have drawn attention to RT and, more specifically to Ms. Martin and even to me, let me just ask you this: What do you think about Michigan's emergency manager law and what do you think about Detroit's bankruptcy process? Apart from the source of the reporting, do you have anything to say about what is being reported? Do you find any specific factual errors in Ms. Martin's stories? If so, please elaborate on the error and let us know what the fact is.

Listen, I know you are the informed viewer who can watch it that way, but most are not. Most (not you) post RT vids here just to get the Putin's TV brand out there. There's no point for me to watch RT or FOX in order to sift thru it for what is left out, what is slanted, and why. It's a waste of time. There are multitudes of avenues to learn about the Detroit bankruptcy.

What if the KKK had a slick news channel which had well-produced reports on the Ferguson shooting? Would that be a good place to get info? Would you recommend it?

troubling and horrifically sad to be happening in the USA....it is happening. Too bad the predjudices we fight against rear their ugly heads here on DU EVERY time a video is posted from RT. I think to be enlightened we need to view all sources and make up our minds rather than rotely turning a blind eye. What anyone could find 'wrong' with these RT videos I'd love to be made aware of. Bad and sad things are happening in our country....including, most of all, denial. imho
