TYT: Fraternity Shut Down After Racist Chant Caught On Tape (Footage Included)

Cenk Uygur (http://www.twitter.com/cenkuygur) host of The Young Turks discusses the shutting down of an University of Oklahoma fraternity over their release of a racist video.

"The fraternity Sigma Alpha Epsilon has been officially disavowed and disowned by the University of Oklahoma due to the release of a video that many are calling full of racism and other hate speech. Several students took it one step further and began holding protests calling for the expulsion of the students in the video.

Social media also exploded with opinions and hate speech on both sides of the issue, some calling it just a prank bro, while others saw it as students that got caught and are trying to get out of punishments for their actions. Official spokespersons for the Sigma Alpha Epsilon stated that the video and fraternity in question did not reflect their views. The SAE has over fifteen thousand members nationwide."

Rush Limbaugh's baleful influence on race relations and women and on and one.

As demagogue who never allows anyone on his show to disagree with him. The callers are screened. Only his rabid supporters got through on the radio.

In the early nineties, he even got on television. He was on the air for three hours a day five days week and on televsion half a hour for five days a week. The radio stations looped his three hour shows through the weekends.

He used a psychological method, saying such things as, 'you know you agree with me,' and since all the responses were managed, it appeared that all did. In some parts of the country the radio stations that carried him had the best range and others were not able to be picked up.

Think of Clear Channel. Think of Fox and cable services that made people pay Glenn Beck every month whether they listened to him or not. And the lead ups to Rush's radio show were intensely hateful, so that he seemed mild in comparison.

I saw and heard this as he went after the Clintons and pushed for Newt Gingrich to get a GOP majority. This nation has gone downhill and he is the 'voice' of many of the youth since that era.

Imagine hearing this in your house growing up, nonstop, and thinking that the whole nation agrees. Now the new and sexy version of right wing ideology is handled by Alex Jones and the Patriot gang.

People are very malleable in terms of what they hear and see and repeat it like echos. They are emotional beings and this is the result of that. As much as I love Cenk and the show, they never get to the hard stuff.

I find 'liberal' disbelief no longer credible and the outrage over what is being spewed a waste of time that keeps people wound up and worn down and unable to change things in the real world. But thanks for posting the video as I hadn't heard the entire thing.

I understand from a post on DU that the young lady who filmed and let this out online now has to have 'security' but I have not seen a link as to why, but you don't cross the right and not get stalked, shot or threatened. This is all the way back to the JBS, it's never ended and is very well funded.

What matters in 2016 is if the Koch billions will install their golden boy Scott Walker as POTUS. He doesn't have original ideas, he is robosigner. Romney failed to become Grover Nordquist's 2012 robosigner-in-chief. In Wisconsin, Walker rubber stamped their legislation.

This cabal, of which Rush is a paid water carrier according to Dick Armey, who ought to know who is Koch paid, is playing for keeps and we have little time to resist it. Neither time nor money is on our side.
