Warning! VERY Disturbing Content!
"Cenk Uygur, John Iadaola, Jimmy Dore, and Ben Mankiewicz of The Young Turks discuss the release of a disturbing video showing the treatment of cows at the Great Lakes Cheese farm.
One of the largest dairy and milk farming companies in the United States, Great Lakes Cheese, has had a chilling video released showing their treatment of their animals. The horrifying video shows multiple instances of abuse, from torture of cows to with holding of veterinary aid and care to the sick and the dying. The video was released by the group Mercy for Animals.
Great Lakes Cheese released a statement apologizing for the treatment and abuse of the cows seen in the video and vowed to make changes within the next few years."

(1,000 posts)Yes, this is horrendous, and simply put, animal cruelty.
Years ago I educated myself on all that is the hell of factory farms, and yes, that includes dairy farms.
I no longer contribute to this hell on earth as I no longer purchase any meat or dairy that is the result of such abuse.
What stands out to me is that Great Lakes vows to make changes within the "next few years" ! Pathetic
Perhaps they will wait until the current AG-Gag bill passes and then they will not have to worry about being exposed.
It is times like this I wish I believed in hell.

(7,392 posts)This is the best part of being vegan. I don't have any cognitive dissonance to deal with -- I can see the clear impropriety of slavery in all its awful forms.

(5,069 posts)is directly linked to the veal (using calf meat) industry. Cows lactate (produce milk) when they are pregnant. Surplus calves are the by-products of the dairy industry.

(23,522 posts)It's just depressing as hell to watch tv with all those food commercials or even look at billboards when you know about the suffering.
