• These are tough times for those in the US who challenge the orthodox conventional narrative on the Ukraine conflict.

• Even "US progressives" who are against an increase in the US military budget, which will inevitably happen in a new Cold War, are content with Washington's policy.

• McCarthyism is still in the DNA of America's media.

• If you question the ruling narrative your patriotism and sanity will be questioned. You will be marginalized and vilified.

• Policing the world does not make the US more secure.

• Most liberals and progressives sign on to the Clinton project of NATO expansion.

• American understanding of diplomacy is "my way or the highway". It allows no room for compromise.

• Liberal interventionists like "hawk" Hillary Clinton hijacked progressivism.

• US media blindly accept the official US government version of events in Ukraine, and it is complicit in creating the false narrative that may lead the US toward war.

• Liberal hawks and neocons share strong residual anti-Russian Cold War sentiments.

• "Putin demonization" is Obama's "Russia policy".

Personally I welcome a broader discourse. This is why I consider myself a liberal. Because there are grey areas in politics that the right is either too stupid or lazy or frightened to admit to. Everything is black and white, with us or against us. In this case, in our demonization of Putin, we disregard that the new government in Kiev, with the billionaire right wing Poroshenko as President and his own agenda to create a new capitalist paradise in the Ukraine.

And RT is never right either. Nothing to learn from any source you have been conditioned not to even listen to. Lets all just sit in our own little boxes. That will solve things.

Her response to helping the gay community in Russia as they are beaten and murdered on a regular basis and Putin enacts homophobia as official policy? "People must fight their own battles."

Oh that "Steve" she keeps mentioning? Her husband Stephen Cohen, the #1 Putin apologist out there.

Katrina vanden Heuvel, go back to your penthouse and spending your parent's money. Quit pretending your wealth can buy you relevancy. Your vanity magazine The Nation is now a laughingstock.
