I ride a motorized bike that is pretty much going to get stolen eventually (lots of people on the street tell me that they want my bike!? It's weird.), so I'm currently hacking out a homemade alarm system that will at least frighten off a typical lock-cutter. I wish I could simply insure it.

That said, I would love to have access to that automated bike garage.

The reason for the bicycle parking facility is space-saving. Bicycle theft in japan is unheard of. They have a society strongly based on honor, a concept alien to many Americans.

As it stands I've owned 5 bikes as an adult, 4 were stolen. The last one set me back $2500. It upset me enough that I told myself I'm never buying another bike, just to have it stolen again.

Tempting fate.

those Dutch love their bikes! They even have these great big cycles for older people and you see white haired seniors out on them everywhere...it's so cool...
