I have no faith at all in the “Fourth Estate” - Edmund Burke at least got the point correct that they act as a fourth branch of government - - they’re just as corrupt as the other three.

6. Controlled Mass Media - Sometimes the media is directly controlled by the government, but in other cases, the media is indirectly controlled by government regulation, or sympathetic media spokespeople and executives. Censorship, especially in war time, is very common.

Btw - LOVE LOVE LOVE this, louis-t! "GOP party money"! Of course! It wasn't for the POLITICAL party, it was for the shmoozy, drinky, hors d'oeuvres-y, hang-out-and-watch-the-ball-game-in-the-fancy-seats-with-the-VIPs party. The party with the free-flowing drinks and platters of tasty num-nums and hot 'n' cold-running high rollers. THAT party.

13. Rampant Cronyism and Corruption - Fascist regimes almost always are governed by groups of friends and associates who appoint each other to government positions and use governmental power and authority to protect their friends from accountability. It is not uncommon in fascist regimes for national resources and even treasures to be appropriated or even outright stolen by government leaders.

I think this is an utter waste of money for private jets. Can't the guy take a commercial airline flight? Even flying first class with a few staffers is far cheaper than taking private jets.

It's not like the GOP has control of anything else in New Jersey. They can't win a US Senate race nor can they win control of either part of their state Congress. (Dems control both). I'm sure the donors would like to know their money is being spent to help get people elected, not have Christie party at Dallas Football games with Jerry Jones or run Chris Christie's presidential aspirations.

He went to school and learned the game as a prosecuter so now nothing sticks. He is untouchable but will only be allowed to do what improves the GOP brand. Once he is no longer serving a purpose for the GOP he will get a job on Wallstreet. Wonder if he will even finish his term as gov of NJ?

Chris Christie is serving as a tackling dummy for the GOP right now.

He even advocated raising the retirement age to 69 the other day. He is inviting criticism.

It is up to you to decide why the GOP is doing this with Christie.

I believe Christie serves strictly as a detraction mechanism.
