[font color="navy" face="Verdana"]That's pretty much what I was going to say, except I was going to blame the attitude more on the fundy mindset:

God created women for men, i.e. to dominate, and to use as baby machines and servants. Therefore, the actual "family values" rules only apply to women and children, but men can do pretty much what they want (as long as they don't get caught).

This slime-bucket is only sorry because he's been exposed.

Fri May 22, 2015, 06:00 PM

that can be moved...and used to include slaves, and earlier women and children...quite literally. It is from this concept that all females and young boys to the age of 12 were owned ... how the woman taking the man's surname began...and chastity belts were arranged.

It's not hard to see how many of these issues continue, in some form or other, to this day. For some women, the Title Ms. and the concept of the hyphenated last name and birth control is a further move away from this deplorable history.

chattel
[chat-l]

noun
1.
Law. a movable article of personal property.
2.
any article of tangible property other than land, buildings, and other things annexed to land.
3.
a slave.

Don't see much different in the adulation of that family and the faux Duck Family gang.

Regarding the television thing. Yeah, they put this stuff out for the terminally bored who eat it like candy. It's cool because it was on teevee!

I imagine a reality show in the future exalting the actions of ISIS and the vapid public will drool:

"Oh, what strong men!" I really do see that in our future, after countenancing all this other BS.

Like that slime bucket. Lights, music, action! It's all good!

This really makes me uncomfortable. I believe in a loving and forgiving God. But what I DO NOT believe is that this just gives you a blanket free pass. Murder someone? "Oh, I'M FORGIVEN!" Cheat somebody and steal from them? "Oh, I'M FORGIVEN!!" Screw somebody over? "Oh, I'M FORGIVEN!!!" Do whatever-the-fuck you want to hurt or violate or otherwise fuck over your fellow man but it's all okay because you're already forgiven. THAT is what it's turned into.

NO, george w. dry-drunk. YOU ARE NOT forgiven. No josh Bugger (OOPS I mean Duggar), YOU are NOT forgiven. NO YOU DO NOT get some Heavenly free pass.

If we're all forgiven, then why is there presumably a Hell? Where is the punishment and accountability for crimes committed against one's fellow man? Oh, I guess that's really just not needed. Because yer already fergivven!

From what I've read, seems like a lot of this was pushed under the rug so the Breeders could go on teeeeveeee and become rich and famous and role models for reckless overbreeding. I have to wonder about the family patriarch - what drove him to keep knocking up that unfortunate woman he married? What kind of ridiculous overcompensation do we have here? And WHY do we have a family like this glorified and held up as some sort of role models? Obviously this guy never heard of ZPG!

Whenever I see magazines with the Breeders (sorry, but that's what I've thought they were from the beginning - I've never been enthralled by this kind of family) or the "Teen Moms" on the cover, I just want to run in the opposite direction! Confession: I LOVE some of those trashy magazines. They're silly and fun, celebrity froo-froo. But I refuse to look at, much less buy, any of 'em if they have those subjects on the cover. Seems to me that's just signaling that "hey, you should do this, too! You might get a TV SHOW and become rich and famous!!!!" We saw that with the so-called "Octomom." She birthed all those babies assuming she'd get a TV show and become a star, or at least have that to help her support all those kids. Honestly, WHAT THE HELL WAS SHE THINKING??????? Same thing with that ridiculous "Jon and Kate plus 8" crap. I think that's what started it all. I couldn't be less interested. Seems to me all that does is hold up that kind of reckless overbreeding as a positive example of some sort, and encourages it in others so THEY TOO can get themselves a nice lucrative TV deal.

Some of his supporters will claim that Liberals are only angry because he supports family values. I remember when Rush Limbaugh first got caught getting his maid to buy drugs for him. A supporter of Limbaugh wrote to People Magazine and claimed Liberal were only angry at Rush Limbaugh because he supported family values. At the time I was shocked that someone would write that type of response. I guess some of my shock came from feeling Limbaugh's supporter was not making him take responsibility for his actions.
