What's even sadder about your clip, is Phil Hartman and his untimely demise.

Thanks again. Wonderful talented people.....Gilda, Phil, and Jan.

but it just MIGHT be the closeted homophobic Christian preachers!

I know some people would like to shut these clowns up, but I see the data on religious affiliation and age groups and I say "keep talking gramps, its working as well as I could ever hope!" Another couple generations of these idiots hosting their aural circle jerks on the radiowaves and they will be eliminated via attrition as the old folks who love to hear him and his ilk blather all die off.

The fate of the GOP and the fate of the religious evangelicals is one and the same - your ideas are static and dying and so too are all of you who hold them dear. Good night and goodbye to them all!

When I was about 12 years old, I tuned in one of those 50,000 watt stations from the south on a Sunday night. I thought it was a comedy sketch of some guy screaming about hell fire and eternal torment and all that. Then it went on. And on. And on. I figured out this guy was serious, and I was fascinated. I listened to him, and the guy who followed him, until radio propagation finally went bad and the signal faded away. I asked my friends about this, and none of them had ever heard of such a thing, except a couple kids who admitted they snuck up and listened to the Pentacostals speaking in tongues. Yes, people take this stuff seriously in certain places. They believe the Lord will punish them here on earth for the bad things they do. Oddly, they don't think individual bad persons are punished for specific bad deeds. Instead, they believe God brings down floods and fire and pestilence on the entire community for allowing lesbian witches to practice among them.

Anything is possible.

Could be the the rise of the four horsemen of the apocalypse.

Could be the flying spaghetti monster is displeased.

But those of us firmly rooted in the reality-based universe look for science-based explanations that are, well, sane. Silly us.

My own county of Oxfordshire is subject to floods; and, while I don't know of anyone who's blamed them on witchcraft, certain UKIP nutters have been all too keen to blame them on the Cameron government legislating same-sex marriage (one of the few reasonable things it's done):

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-oxfordshire-25800285

He was supported in this by former UKIP parliamentary candidate Julia Gasper (whose homophobia turned out to be too extreme even for UKIP; she is now a member of the far-right English Democrats).

Actually Oxfordshire had its worst floods in 2007, BEFORE same-sex marriage was legislated; so I don't know how the nutters explain that!

The only thing that surprises me about this story is that it took this long for him, or anyone else that agrees with him to make this statement. On the day that the floods were first reported I thought about starting a post saying that I was sad that some of the right would try to blame the whole thing on Houston Mayor Annise Parker.

Because God is punishing Texas for tolerating teh gay.
