Wow!
Not surprising they could not foresee Bernie's popularity. Also not surprising that they think it is about "chic," and not about substance.
But then, if being considered "chic," and called "chic" by these blatant superficialites helps Bernie, so be it. I'm for it. Anything that is good for Bernie is good.

(9,298 posts)vote for Bernie because it's "chic," that's OK by me. They'd still be correct in their own weird way.

(9,126 posts)Bernie is a rock star. I gotta be honest, I am stunned at how well he is stepping into the spotlight. People are getting a chance to really hear about hime and see him for real. And anyone who didn't think America is ready for The Real Deal must be living in a bubble...oh wait...

(2,065 posts)But even they must acknowledge, however indirectly or superficially, Bernie's phenomenal success, even if they downplay it as only a fad. The truth is that there's nothing superficial about this voter mania for Bernie - he's the most real candidate out there. He's the only one who's really addressing the issues, and working hard to put what he says into law as he's on the campaign trail. Although I resent the superficiality of this coverage, as well as its propensity to draw superficial parallels between Bernie and other past political campaigns, no parallels really exist; Bernie is totally unique.
I see in Bernie Sanders the potential to be a Gandhi-like figure in a political revolution against corporate neo-colonialism in America. His campaign is kind of like a political Satyagraha, or Holding to Truth, movement. And to be like Gandhi, he must really be humble, frugal and unassuming in his public behavior, to identify completely with the oppressed masses; and, being the living example of everything he advocates for, he must speak truth to power. And his refusal to indulge in vicious attack ads, but stick scrupulously to the issues, is political non-violent resistance at its finest.

(10,495 posts)now know to be utter BS. These two morons are still trying to make Bernie seem only popular with the young people. Subtly, they try to link Bernie with Howard Dean who went down in flames caused by the corporate media pyromaniacs. Bernie is the real deal and they will not stop trying to beat him down. He will get his message out in the debates, which have to be causing heartburn in the Hillary camp. She is a pro and will do a good job, though I doubt that her answers in the debate will be what she would do in office.
