Abby Martin: The Real House of Saud - Saudi Arabia's Oil-For-Tyranny

Published on Oct 3, 2015

Meet the new head of the United Nations panel on Human Rights: the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Abby Martin takes us inside the brutal reality of this police-state monarchy, and tells the untold people's history of resistance to it. With a major, catastrophic war in Yemen and looming high-profile executions of activists, The Empire Files exposes true nature of the U.S.-Saudi love affair.

It makes me weep that it would only take this 1/2 hour video on American network TV to inform the public about who this "great friend" of theirs is. But it will never see the light of day. Hell, it hardly gets a view on DU.

"According to the U.S. Department of Agriculture, the Dietary Reference Intakes, which is the "highest level of daily nutrient intake that is likely to pose no risk of adverse health effects" specify 10 mg/day for most people, corresponding to 10 L of fluoridated water with no risk. For infants and young children the values are smaller, ranging from 0.7 mg/d for infants to 2.2 mg/d.[26] Water and food sources of fluoride include community water fluoridation, seafood, tea, and gelatin.[27]

The EPA lists fluoride as a chemical with substantial evidence of developmental neurotoxicity.[28]"

Pray tell....what exactly in this exposure of Saudi Arabia do you take issue with? Is this all made up? It is one thing to be an apologist for the corporacracy of the US, but to excuse SA from criticism based on your personal bias against one journalist is embarrassing. Or should be.

if someone has shown themselves to be " target="_blank">nutcase conspiracy theorist and has stooped so low as to be an RT (Putin TV) host, then I don't care to hear her tell me even about the weather, and if she was a weather person on TV and she said it's sunny today I would go to the window and check because she's such a discredited phony and shill that I have no way of knowing if she's getting paid to fudge even about that, or she might spewing BS because she decided there was a conspiracy that the sunshine today was an illusion created the evil corporations to fool us into buying more sunglasses or something.

And another thing, it's not only about lies and falsehoods, it's about dripping bias--sure she might report on a subject and most of what she says is true, but I have no way of knowing how much BS she's mixing in there, or how much she's leaving out because her whole background is deceiving and misleading people that way either on behalf of a fascist dictatorship or just for her own kooky ideas. Whether it's lying by omission, mixing truth with lies, or false equivalency, Martin will use every propaganda technique in the book.

And one more thing, even if I knew some segment (like this one on the Saudis) was all true, I wouldn't spend the time to watch a segment of hers because why should I give a disgraceful mouthpiece for a homophobic anti-democracy the time of day when I can find all the same info from non-tainted sources? Think of it this way: Would you trust an article on the Stormfront website about, say, crime in African American communities because people told you that yes those Stormfronters are kind of biased but this particular article produced by Stormfront is true and really good, even though avowed and infamous neo-Nazis wrote it?

You may say oh, Uhnope, please don't compare Abby Martin to Stormfront! They are whacked out haters, Uhnope, and Abby Martin is a cool, professional and easy-on-the-eyes journalist (and yes, I think a reason why so many give her slack is because they would like to be in her slacks). And I would say where do you draw the line? She willingly spouted BS for Putin TV for years, and guess what? Putin's regime has created astronomically more damage and done immensely more harm than the creepy little Stormfront creeps in their trailers and moms' basements. Do you draw the line, for example at FOX? Because Abby's schtick and gig at Putin TV was a carbon copy of what FOX does. Personally, if I find any news source--especially an individual--to be totally compromised, obviously shilling or partially deranged--Martin gets all three--then not only do I reject them but also I think the effect of their contribution is overall negative and harmful.

Then there's Abby's implicit message that she communicated everyday by being on Putin TV: "democracy isn't really important, is it guys?"

Lug: Refresh your knowledge of techniques of propaganda, and bone-up on your critical thinking skills. Then you'll draw back in disgust and recrimination when you see Abby Martin's smiling face in a "news" video, much as you probably do for the news models on FOX.

OK, I gave you the time of day, you're welcome

Thankyou so much for your precious time.

i feel sorry for you. You brag about shutting your ears to truth depending on the messenger. And then even IF that person is no longer employed by that same offending employer, she is stained forever for initially breaking into the business by accepting the chance to speak the truth by someone willing to give her a stage.

So Thom Hartmann, who used to work for Air America now works at RT. Do you honestly think that he gets talking points from Putin too? Was he brainwashed in some gulag? Jeez you are naive. Yes Putin allows free reign for anti-(Western)-establishment voices. The enemy of my enemy...These are stories we wouldn't hear on the MSM news because of corporate executive censorship. But you'd rather put your head in the sand depending on who hosted the truth sayer, not the actual words that came out of their mouths.

Rachel Maddow works for General Electric, one the largest arms makers and war profiteers and MIC lobbyists. So you must also believe that she is spoon fed her stories from GE.

Viacom's CEO once proclaimed that he was voting for Bush, showing his colours. So..............Even Jon Stewart was secretly propping up the GOP. Remarkable job. I never would have suspected that.

I have a good "knowledge of techniques of propaganda". One of the best methods is repeating a lie over and over. If you only listen to the the MSM corporate news, and what they decide to tell you, and more important what they will NOT tell you about SA like this video does, you are fodder for them. And the reach of those networks and influence and faux credibility, give them a much greater capacity for propaganda working than one relatively small independent journalist's videos.

And you yourself don't understand the false equivalency idea, since to you there's no difference between Stormfront news, RT, FOX, Thom Hartmann, MSNBC, and the Daily Show. You apparently cannot see a qualitative difference between any of these. You don't even have a line, apparently, and you think anyone who doesn't tolerate blatant propaganda must have their "head in the sand." Do you have any BS detector at all, ever? Or do you just wait for Abby Martin to tell you what is a lie & who the bad guy is?

BTW I was joking about my time and the lug stuff.

Shake that sand out of your ears. I base my "truth detector" on reputation of past reliability as well as my own research to back it up. Part of that track record for the messenger is how many times, if any, they have been proven to have lied or twisted stories. For instance Media Matters has reams of pages of fact checking on FOX News to dissuade me from taking them at their word. But that said, I am willing to give a journalist a mulligan on rare occasions based on previous work. I did not for instance, think Dan Rather was a complete charlatan after his faux pas.

Just as Abby Martin may go out on a limb and have on someone who says that North Korea is made to look even worse than it is by western media. No, I don't take her at her word, or more specifically her guest's word, because I also use other sources. But I do admire her for even approaching such un-PC topics. That is the point. I want to hear other stories and opinions outside of the main stream sanctioned talking points, and have the opportunity to make up my own mind. Abby is one of a few that actually is not afraid to do that, despite the fact that she could probably sell out in an instant and with those looks you alluded to, could land a job at one of the corporate filtered networks.

see post #21. She's not approaching "un-PC topics" when she slams the Saudis. Everyone slams the Saudis. They suck. She's only slamming them because they are an ally of the US. That would be her default reason.

Of course, just this week Saudi clerics declared a jihad against Russia and Assad, so maybe she had more specific reason to slam the easy target of Saudi Arabia.

(PS: Her new boss, Telesur, is funded mostly by Venezuela and Cuba. Ever get the feeling you're being fooled?)

...Abby Martin decides to do a slam on the Saudis. Wow, amazing. You'd think that maybe her old Kremlin paymasters might have paid her once again to do a perfectly-time hit piece on someone who was causing them trouble.

Though she might just be doing it because Saudi Arabia is an ally of the USA.

This is what's wrong with siding with one fucked up anti-democratic government (Russia) over another (Saudi Arabia).
