9. The Benghazi attack did not occur at an embassy.

It occurred at a consulate. There is a big difference.

Both embassies and consulates are representative departments of a foreign country/government within another country.

Technically, an Embassy is where an "Ambassador" is based. As there can only be one Ambassador for a specific country, there can only be (at most) one Embassy. As the Ambassador is the highest ranking representative of that foreign government, the Embassy is thus also deemed to be the highest level of representative location.

A consulate is similar, but generally deemed to be a lower ranking due to the lack of an Ambassador. Consulates will generally be smaller - often being more like an office where the embassy often doubles as the actual residence for the Ambassador and/or some of his staff.

http://travel.stackexchange.com/questions/9480/whats-the-difference-between-embassies-and-consulates

Embassies are in the capitols of countries usually. Consulates can be anywhere.

It is perfectly understandable, to be expected even, that a consulate will not be nearly as secure as an embassy.

The puzzling thing is the presence of a CIA compound fairly near the consulate.

What was the coordination and cooperation between the CIA and the State Department at the time? That is a question to which the American deserve an answer. Was there some sort of negligence on the part of the CIA which was then headed by Petraeus?

The German Embassy in the US is in the D.C. area. There is a German consulate in, for example, Los Angeles.

My question has always been why Stevens met with the Turkish ambassador in the consulate in Benghazi where the security would, of course, not have been as great as it would have been in the Embassy in Tripoli. Tripoli is the capitol of Libya.

I have wondered about that. My instincts tell me there was a reason for the choice of that strange and, of course, less secure meeting place. What was it?

Why don't the reporters, the media find out the answer to that question?

Jeb Bush obviously does not understand how foreign policy and diplomacy work. Why would he? He was the governor of a state, not in any way involved really in federal government.

Jeb Bush is no more qualified to be president than his brother was, and that was not qualified at all.

I should explain. Jeb said we should check to see whether the security in Benghazi was as good as it was at other embassies. Of course it wasn't. Because Benghazi was a consulate office and not an embassy.

I have never been able to figure out why two ambassadors were meeting at an embassy.

I wonder what the problem was that caused them to meet there in the first place.

Why would Stevens have gone to Benghazi from Tripoli to meet with the Turkish ambassador when the best defended building would have been in Tripoli normally? Was there something wrong in Tripoli? Why was he in Benghazi in the first place?

2. The Bengazi question
Sun Oct 18, 2015, 07:15 PM
Oct 2015

When comparing 9/11 and Bush to Clinton/Obama and Bengazi. His friggin answer on Bengazi "Was the place secure?" No, then he spouts off "Was there a chance these 4 American lives could have been saved?" Yes.

Well, lets take the same question to 9/11. Was the place secure(as in the U.S.)? The answer is no. They knew in August about planes flying into buildings. What did they do? Nothing. So lets change his next answer to "Was there a chance these 3000 American lives could have been saved? Yes. So there's really no difference? So why are they still going after Clinton, and Bush walks free? The only answer I can come up is that politics is corrupt. Especially the right wing.

So my question is. Why didn't we go after Bush as strong as we are against Clinton? Especially since there really is no difference in 9/11 and Bengazi, other than Bush's fiasco killed 750 times more the people. Not including all the deaths associated with the Iraq war.

The friggin right are out of their minds. I swear when they sleep at night, they dream this shit up.

I don't buy Bush's shit for one second. His brother is no different than the Bengazi situation. Yet Dubya walks free?

Unbelievable!!!! What an idiot this one is.

I would have hit him with the August 6 PDB - plus all the warnings before that,

Why didn't Tapper call him on it? I sit here in my living room and can run rings around these fugging idiots they have on CNN, what a joke

The knowledgeable American people know it was W's fault and the whole Cabal of criminals

It's a good thing Trump brought this up, if we are lucky it won't die again
