(2,227 posts)I was at the Portland ralley and it was amazing. This one though, seems to fit him even better. Ive watched it 4 times already and it really is what's gonna get us to the finish line. I wasn't sure if this type of event would be good for him, I am now sure, it is.

(12,882 posts)Can answer with the candid forthrightness and not use "canned" answers like this fellow does. NO ONE! And his answers aren't just "It'll be great" or "Trust me" whitewash. They're thoughtful, concise and and enlightening. Can't we just have the election today - so we can eject our current failure and put Bernie in place?

(41,113 posts)POLITICAL REVOLUTION he calls for in the campaign.
Asked how he will work with Congress, Bernie said that with mass support of people becoming involved- a political awareness and revolution, then legislation and programs before Congress will have much more weight with the backing of the PEOPLE. From serving in Congress for 15 years, Bernie knows this.
On DEMOCRATIC SOCIALISM, Bernie referred to the successful programs of FDR, SOCIAL SECURITY for the safety and dignity of the elderly, and LBJ's MEDICARE program. Govt. run fire and police departments he added as examples of democratic socialized public services.
FDR's FOUR FREEDOMS, A New Bill of Rights proposed in a Jan. 1941 speech by the president emphasized freedom of speech and religion already in the Constitution, and 2 new freedoms he sought for the people- freedom from want-to have a home and a job-and freedom from fear, essentials of social democracy we need to recall. Bernie spoke on the importance of public EDUCATION and the need to value TEACHERS.
Enforcing the VRA, the VOTING RIGHTS ACT of 1965 was mentioned. In 2013 the Act was gutted by the RW Supreme Court and that decision enabled states in the south, and also Minnesota, Ohio and others to quickly enact new, anti-democratic restrictions that are SUPRESSING VOTING.
awesome indeed...
Great to hear Bernie in a Q & A format like this!!!

(1,268 posts)Just like he has said many times, nothing is going to happen unless we get involved. I like the answer he gave to the possibility of dealing with a "do nothing" Congress.
I think if I had a million people knocking on my door constantly, or camped out in front of my office, I would likely get the hint. That is a Political Revolution.
