5. The part about why he polls so low among black voters in South Carolina

The interviewer's question begins at 2:53, Keith Ellison's response begins at 3:20, and at about 3:23 he says something like:

"I think that a lot of black voters when they get to know him and his message and how sincere he is ... so people are going to catch on and respond.... Bernie just has to get a chance to get introduced to these voters and them to him and I think it's going to be fine"

(my attempt to transcribe, not a perfectly exact quote, though I did listen to this segment several times).

I'm reminded of that thread a few days ago about whether blacks voting for Hillary is an example of the Stockholm Syndrome. And Keith here is saying that a lot of black voters are not familiar with Bernie and his positions. (I am reminded how some people were slammed with indignant DU outrage for suggesting the same thing that Keith is).

(Full disclosure: he's my Congressman )

And that is a true statement. But on the subject of black voters not knowing/hearing about Bernie was the topic early on in the campaign. I'm sure many voters of color know him now. And the poll, it's just a snapshot and not reflective of the entire population. Black voters do use Twitter and FB. And that's where it begins, and continues from there. If voters of color seek a candidate of substance, they don't have to look very far.

But sometimes will instead support and vote for the one they think most electable in the general election, even if it is a triangulating, weather-vaning, 3rd way, Wall St loving, seemingly eager to intervene / escalate / go to war type of politician.

True. But unfortunately it has also been an issue in recent days, including some very recent raging threads on DU. And Keith Ellison thinks so too, according to the video.

And I'm sure many don't. Just like many white voters don't -- I know some of those too, unfortunately. Or worse, a lot of people think they know him -- thinking that he's essentially Communist-lite -- Kim Jong Un without the gulags and a different hair style. Or that he is the candidate of Volvo-driving latte-sipping, Birkenstock-wearing lily white elitists.
