There it is - these native Americans directly impacted by what's going on while at the same time some are advocating to follow Sarah Palin's lead! It's the same thing in the lower 48. The Rethugs and their controllers would rather extract every last dime's worth of oil and coal to maintain the grandiose lifestyles rather than at LEAST make an attempt at saving humanity from the raging ravages of a climate on the rampage.
" Yah - jus' some dumb-ass savages livin' in shacks in the boondocks. Who cares???"

We'll be caring soon enough. We're already caring - right here in California.

TPTB are running roughshod over the well being of the planet, as well as the people who depend upon the very ground below them for existence. All for the insanely relentless pursuit of profits.

When will everyone wake up to all the things that are happening around them?

Terrible stuff is happening here too, Plucketeer.

We've got RECORD drought and RECORD crops. Record crops - record dairy production - record depletion of groundwaters. In fact, we've got terrain sink here, just as in Alaska. No homes tipping on end yet, but droppage measurable in FEET because of the ground water resevoirs being sucked dry to make up for the drought. Right now it's a well-drillers DREAM here. A few years ago there were waiting lists months long to get a well drilled or deepened. Most the time the drillers wouldn't even return your calls. There were too few drillers because there wasn't enough demand to propel the craft. NOW - there's an army of fancy new rigs punching holes to 500 - 1000 feet so farmers can press on as if nothing's wrong. And the deeper the water levels sink, the more the ground layers collapse and compact - compact in such a way that they can never again bear water as they have for millions of years.
MEANWHILE.... as you drive the state's main arteries, you're confronted with signs in farm fields that lay the lack of water SQUARELY on the backs of Pelosi, Reid, Obama and the rest. What they don't detail is that they're referring to the snow melt water that is shunted to LA, the Bay area and to support salmon and other native creatures that are hanging by a thread to survive. They don't tell you THAT. But on the face of it - those signs about the Dems "stealing" THEIR water would lead to the logical conclusion that since there's NO precipitation to collect and distribute, it must be that these cursed DC magicians are at fault for the lack of rain and snowfall. Just what sort of rain dance do they envision Nancy and Harry doing to bring the rains back???
The rubes in this BLOOD RED part of this Democratic state can think of NOTHING but their own bulging bank accounts. Yeah - yeah: Salad bowl of the world - like they truly give a shit. It's mind-boggling to realize that when white folks first started to farm this valley (1850s) you could sail a schooner right up the middle of the valley and into the Sacramento delta. It was a huge, shallow body of water bordered by swampy wetlands. But the hungry tummies of prospectors moved others to realize the real treasure was in growing and selling food to those hungry prospectors. So, little by little, everything was leveled - natural waterways were "tamed" and they've farmed and fertilized here until the soil is literally becoming toxic. And now - as a final funereal insult - they're gonna suck up every last drop of ground waters to make sure we all have enough Q-tips, Cottonell and corn chips. Oh! And fancy nuts (walnuts, almonds, pistacios) to make foreign snackers happy.
We have more SUN here than you might believe - even WITH this state's sunny reputation. What these greedy farmers need to do is plant solar cells and make clean, non-water-demanding energy instead of pouring fossil fuels outta the exhaust pipes of their farm equipment. But like I said - BLOOD RED here. That says it all.

The major obstacle is that fossil-fuel industries are so damned short-sighted that they do not even consider converting the industry to renewable energy...Might take these companies some years, but they would still be raking in huge profits...If you are driving your Lamborgini into the garage of one of your mansions after a week-end drive on your Ocean Alexander yacht, you don't really give a shit about Mother Earth...
