(18,652 posts)Heat the oils in a big pot with the popcorn. Watch closely. Shake it baby!
Shake the pot once in a while to keep contents from burning.
When corn starts popping, pick up the pot so it's close to the burner but not right on it
Shake pot, hovering over direct heat. Good for arm muscles
Popping should be going on
When done, add sweet or salty mix. Ideas below:
Sweet: maple syrup/agave syrup and butter or oil
Salty: sea salt, nutritional yeast, cider vinegar, soy sauce

I just love how he really puts the smart neurosurgeon stereotype to shame. Even then, I saw somewhere that he's leading the polls in Iowa somehow.

(54,298 posts)Only to have a serious, viable candidate come riding in on his shining white horse to save his Party's sorry ass from looking foolish in the general.
And yet--in the last two presidential contests, for the last two election cycles, on the Republican roster there was no such serious, viable candidate anywhere to be found. Instead, they ran two of the weakest tickets that party has run since Alf Landon.
For this reason, I have a healthy respect for the Democratic party primary battle this/next year (as I did in 2008). For now, anyway, I see the nominee of the Democratic Party in 2016 as being the person inaugurated on January 20, 2017. Just because Hillary has done this before doesn't mean she will avoid making mistakes this time. Just because Bernie has not done this before, it does not mean he is automatically to be counted out.

But he's not in politics, and doesn't always vote for his party's candidate if he feels they suck, which has been an ever more frequent occurrence since 2008.
As far as anyone in elective office--no, no one. They've all either retired or were primaried out of existence. They'd have to produce a complete outsider, say someone like Trump with the brains of Al Gore.

You just can't make this shit up! If this keeps up, the Onion will have to switch to reporting real news.
So, who's left?
Carly (I-drove-HP-into-the-ditch) Fiorina.
Rand (chip-off-the-old-block) Paul.
Raphael Edward(what-birth-certificate?) Cruz.
Lindsey (Confederate battle flag flip-flopper) Graham
John Kasich. When might we expect his campaign to meltdown?
They'd better start working on their October surprise. Bengazi ain't gonna' cut it, and neither will Ebola.

Repug lurkers: don't think we don't notice what you're up to
Interestingly, NPR had a segment this summer from someone who was in a RWnut group for quite awhile. He said these groups consist of people who are typically antisocial, have mental probs, are uneducated, violent, drug users, etc.
Then there was a show I caught on TV (PBS? History Channel?) that pointed out there were a lot of homeless boys or boys without fathers in Germany after WWI. They were some combination of low skilled, impoverished, uneducated, unemployed, violent, had no prospects and engaged in criminal stuff. Just like today's RWnut groups. Hitler gave these poor boys a "home" in the SS.
Scary stuff, I agree Very scary. I will go Hillary or Bernie. Either one will be great. If Hillary wins, Bernie could be in some high position governing Wall St. If Bernie wins, Hillary can do anything she wants to do, either in or out of politics. But these repugs have got to go out of the House and Senate.
