There was obviously some arrangement that allowed Bush to walk away early. I suppose someone in his family talked to someone in his chain of command, and everybody agreed it would not be noticed when he failed to appear at drill. This was probably to the advantage of the National Guard, since they didn't want to waste time shining some rich kid's shoes one weekend a month. In the post-Vietnam era, many people ere allowed to simply "drop out" of National Guard duties. Yes, these were the same people who used power and influence to get into the Guard in the first place, to avoid being sent to Vietnam. The military didn't try very hard to stop them from walking away, since they were mostly apathetic about their military duties from the beginning. Bush conforms to the model almost perfectly, so it's pretty clear what happened. And I don't think we'll ever find anybody who remembers the exact details. It's doubtful his absence was ever noted or recorded in any way, since nobody cared. He was a slacker, as we found out.

I am SO damned happy that CBS's pathetic pandering to the Bush Crime Family is
FINALLY getting exposed ... BIG time ... on a BIG screen star-studded movie.

And thank you Rachael for covering this story and having Dan Rather himself, on
your show, saying "Yah, this movie is totally accurate about how this all happened".
