GOP Debate: Ted Cruz Shows Why He Shouldn’t Be President In Two Minutes

Tonight was the GOP debate on CNBC, and of course, the 10 people on stage were all trying to ‘make their mark’ and have the great line of the debate. Ted Cruz came with a transparent plan to simply go after the media. After a series of policy-related questions, Cruz was asked about his opposition to the latest budget compromise — another ‘serious policy question.’

Cruz had his own agenda, though. Running through a ‘mad lib’ style monologue, Cruz simply ignored the question and lashed out at the media — one of his beloved whipping boys. Cruz basically twisted previous questions into what they weren’t. For example, he declared that Ben Carson had been asked if he could do math? In reality, Carson was asked about his budget plan, which most experts find to be undoable and a deficit exploder. Marco Rubio saying he didn’t have to do his job because he didn’t find the Senate fun — a legitimate question, was turned on its head.

Others were asked about their records — Cruz bent that into ‘personal attacks.’

About halfway through the filibuster, the host calmly reminded Cruz that he was asked a serious policy question — and was spending his time talking about other stuff, not answering the question. Cruz still didn’t answer the question, continuing on his tirade. When his time was spent and the rest of the debate was ready to move on, only THEN was Cruz at all interested in answering the question — in other words, Cruz’s plan was to double his time — admittedly pretty darn clever. Spend your time insulting the media to appeal to the rabid base (yes, he did get big applause in the room) then after your time is spent, double back and accuse the ‘media’ of not allowing you to answer the question.

All of that hot air wasted. It's rare that I feel sorry for the M$M but this may be one time.

of good air that could/should be put to better use by endangered species.

He is a well polished purveyor of doublespeak and he's not fooling anyone with an IQ that can be found on the positive side of zero on a numberline.

But it didn't work. Made a hypocrite of himself, complaining about lack of substance while he was supposed to be answering a substantive question.
