GOP presidential hopeful Ben Carson on Wednesday seemed to give contradicting statements when he said it was very easy to mislead uneducated people into thinking that providing college education was a good thing.

The remarks, made at Liberty University in Virginia, seemed to be a swipe at Democratic candidate Bernie Sanders, who has said that higher education should be funded by states and the federal government, according to The Hill. Carson said doing so would lead to “the destruction of the nation.”

<snip>

“It becomes easy to swallow things,” the retired neurosurgeon told the audience. “If you don’t understand our financial situation and someone comes along and says, ‘free college for everybody,’ they’ll say, ‘oh how wonderful,’ and have no idea they’re talking about hastening the destruction of the nation.”

<snip>

But Carson, a devout Christian, has chalked it all up to being unfairly treated by the “gotcha” media, telling the crowd at the Christian university he has relied on his faith to remain unfazed, according to The Hill.

Hey, it makes sense to him.

But then the nation we've got needs destroyed and rebuilt by a nation of the newly educated. The whole point of progress is to destroy the existing status quo, and build something better in its place. Conservatives always want to cling to what we've got, no matter how awful it is, or even revert to something worse in the past, rather than take the risk to tear down the bad and build anew upon the the corpse of the old world.

college education to Americans who can get to Germany last year. Then again Germany doesn't have a military as large as the next eleven or twelve nations put together like the fiscally responsible US does. One less SSBN ought to cover it for years.

Germany offers tuition-free college to all American students

Want to attend college for free? It can happen if you learn German.
All German universities are now free to Americans and all other international students. The last German state to charge tuition at its universities struck down the fees this week.

Which was focused on the idea that American social structures and American institutions need rebuilt into something more like those in Denmark and Germany. But you've got to demo the old to make room for the new. Not protect institutions that are built around personal greed and racism.

I DO want to destroy the country Ben Carson wants to preserve. And replace with a far better one.
