Related: About this forumTYT: Hillary Backpedals On Republican “Enemies” Comment
Hillary Clinton was at a town hall event and was asked if she would extend an olive branch to Republicans. Ms. Clintons response did not inspire confidence in progressives. Cenk Uygur, host of the The Young Turks, breaks it down.

I was actually one who cringed when she said she was happy to be enemies with them, but I believe Cenk has a point; these pigs have no interest in compromise. But maybe she is untrustworthy on her back pedal, given that seems to be a trait she is assigned: untrustworthy.

(13,785 posts)Didn't we go through this with Obama in 2009 -2011 when the Democrats controlled the House, the Senate and the Presidency? I don't think the "why can't we all just get along" strategy works very well with the Republicans.

(2,657 posts)the repugs who attack HRC continuously, maliciously, personally, with twisted interpretations and outright lies of the crudest nature are the enemies of not only HRC but a free United States of America. And they do it knowingly in most cases to pander to the real dumbass far right scumbags who are actual traitors to the USA. The Founding Fathers, themselves, would either lock up or eject those fuckers.

(14,144 posts)She'll be Obama 2.0 only more hawkish.
She would love nothing more than to be in Obama's position. With the other two houses controlled by Republicans. The poor thing, WANTING to move the country forward, but dang it, those Republicans just won't let him, and so he "reluctantly" caters to Wall Street, BP oil, TPP architects. (And then after leaving office conveniently is offered 6 figure executive positions on corporations and speaking gigs for business groups.)
It will be scenarios where economically crippling right wing policies will be rubber stamped but if there is, say, a food stamp cutting provision attached to some pro conservative business bill, she will hold a press conference, look stern, and say she will veto it unless they only cut food stamps half as much because, you know, she's a progressive.

(449 posts)because demonizing people you are slated to work with is not helpful. I look at Al Franken. Al has perhaps disappointed some people here because he hasn't raked Republicans over the coals while in office. It's about maintaining some semblance of a working relationship. Similarly, Joe Biden called Hillary Clinton out on the whole "Republicans are our Enemies" line.
However, I don't like hearing that she'll "offer an olive branch." She should have never been in that situation to begin with. She painted herself into that corner with that line from the first debate.

(9,141 posts)They don't believe in solutions only an corporate oligarchy where they don't ask you what you want them to do...they tell you what you will do...what ever suits them...the minority. The questioner needs to read up on the Caucus room conspiracy or read "Ask Not The Good We Do" because both sides don't do it...only one side is uncompromising on everything.

(2,671 posts)Whatever people want to hear, she'll say it because she has no solid positions, except with Wall St. and big money in general, protect them at all costs. When she says that she's going to reign in Wall St. and big banks, you know she's lying.
