Reality Check: Proof U.S. Government Wanted ISIS To Emerge In Syria

More proof that ISIS wasn't some Bush creation, or came about because of Climate change or whatever other excuse the MIC apologists want to give for ISIS existence.

Enjoy, rep, post a comment and share it.

2. No offense, but this is sounding more like troll food than evidence.

Leading up to a kind of Bay Of Pigs scenario? Sideways regime change using agents who clearly hate western intervention? How does that work?

I don't deny the document. I just cannot accept the strategy as stated. I can see Qatar and Saudi using "them". I can't see US agencies knowingly enabling specifically anti-western groups. Once armed and able how are they limited to attacking only Assad?

5. I am not quite sure what you are getting at

But the US and the GCC states work hand in hand for a while now. See, my eyes opened when the so called Arab league approved the US destruction of Libya. That is when I realized that the 2 sides just play good cop v bad cop depending on the situation. But make no mistake, the two groups work towards the same goals be it in Syria, Yemen or Libya.

7. I don't think the origins of Daesh are as simple as that document seems to suggest.

For some long time the US , Qatar, and Saudi Arabia have worked toward some of the same goals true enough. Good Cop - Bad Cop, yes. The bit about arming people who might then attack someone other than Assad seems a bit of a stretch in terms of intention, unless you assume you could then destroy or disable that group after they eliminated Assad for you.

The thing that falls apart for me is the idea that a simple group of irregulars is going to un-do Assad's army and air force without outside help from more formal military powers: no-fly zone, coordinated air strikes, material assistance in the field, call it what you will. Yes that is what they have done, now. But it is not what is proposed in the document. Syria was not and is not yet Libya, although the region east of Damascus may be headed that way.

Why would the US command put the oil region in Iraq in the path of such a group? How would the power players avoid that kind of outcome? Such a consideration must have been part of the planning stages if we are to accept that Daesh as it operates now was conceived under such a plan as the document refers to.

I don't believe the origin of Daesh is a simple one. I don't expect we will find that was directed from Langley, CENTCOM, Doha, or Riyadh, alone. I am reminded of the theory that CIA and State planned to lure the Soviet army into Afghanistan to force them into a Vietnam style military defeat. It is interesting as a movie script but reality is somewhat more complicated and unpredictable.

I am saying it is not as clear-cut or as simple as proposed in the program. The document may indeed point to activities since undertaken. It does not account for the virulent hatred expressed towards the west by Daesh.

8. Good post, but why are we always funding the people we're supposedly fighting?

It's getting more than a little old.

10. In this case, we needed cover and an excuse to overthrow Assad

ISIS was going to be the reason for us invading Syria but the Russians are trying to block this. The Paris attacks refresh ISIS as an excuse for the US and NATO to go into Syria.

The overwhelming majority of people killed by ISIS are muslims. There are suicide bombing attacks frequently and in various countries (eg Nigeria, Chad) but our media only obsesses about it when they have a war to sell us.

9. sources

I guess this reporter never checks his sources, or believes the right wing hack, because if you query Judicial Watch or https://www.splcenter.org/fighting-hate/extremist-files/individual/larry-klayman you will see he is nothing but a hack...
