Hillary Clinton really showed her true, corrupt and very ugly side when she pointed to Bernie Sanders' vote in 2000 for the bill that virtually deregulated the commodities market, a bill hidden in the omnibus spending bill.
For shame on Hillary Clinton.
If you read and listen to the background behind Hillary's accusation against Bernie, you will be utterly disgusted with Hillary.

(613 posts)With the host of this video.
If the Clinton campaign decides to go negative, and perpetrate acts like the one described here, it will not be a long primary season. It will be a very short one and Sanders will walk into a coronation.
All Sanders has to do to totally defeat attacks like this is to continue being polite, gracious and accommodating of Clinton. Clinton in turn will seem rude, dishonest, vulgar and unfit.
This behavior will backfire on Clinton, not unlike the way it backfired last week with Chelsea Clinton.
Sanders is running a Sanders campaign. His campaign is basically: You know me, I'm a smart guy. And you know I'm right about the economy and the world, and I have a track record of success.
Clinton is running a campaign that says: I'm a woman, I've waited my turn. I deserve to be President. I will do whatever it takes to be President. Being President is my goal in life.
One candidate is coming from a place where he really wants to affect change.
The other is coming from a place where they genuinely believe becoming President is destiny.
One is benevolent, the other ego.
If she goes negative, I trust the American people will see right through Hillary Clinton, and the result will be a Sanders sweep.

(2,603 posts)If you hate Bernie for this vote and side with the Congressmen that voted against it, you are a fan of Ron Paul! That's right, you agreed with Ron fucking Paul!

I know Thom backs Bernie. I do too. I think he should go all out Bernie. If Bernie wins in the general, it will be much easier.

(687 posts)What is the message that the average American who has never heard of that bill gets from hearing that Bernie voted for it? zzzzzz
Anybody wonkish enough to know what she is talking about with that snarky look on her face will still not be persuaded that Sanders is some sort of deep cover Wall Street Whore. It is just "cleverness" to twist his record into showing an inconsistency at best for her, but it is utterly implausible that he is not really a Democratic Socialist.
And, biggest folly of all -- this contradicts her main message against Sanders, that he is too left wing to be President.
If she would just say what she wants to do as President, without comparing it to Sanders, her money and name ID recognition could probably waltz home to victory. But she has a political Tin Ear, luckily for the Republic. Her obnoxious presumptuousness is in her soul and it resonates with everything she says or does. Bill was talented at politics. Hillary has always been a loser for that very reason, from her miserable run as Health Care Genius in 1993 to her blowing a 50 point lead eight years ago.
It is easy to imagine the Clinton Campaign Staff getting their marching orders. "Ok, team, it looks like this Bernie Sanders person is not going to go away. So, we'll just have to go negative. Get busy and give me some of those Negative Thingees that we can use to finish him off."
The result should be embarrassing to her supporters . . . .

(449 posts)If someone did take time to educate themselves on the candidates I can see how this might leave someone with a bad taste in their mouth. Clinton attacking Sanders on something that was snuck into a bill at the last second? Sanders doing the sane/pragmatic/etc. thing and voting for that bill anyway? Surely, if he had voted against the omnibus bill he would have been attacked for that.
Then, in a stomach-churning piece of irony, the guy who wrote the legislation Clinton used to attack Sanders actually works as the Chief Financial Officer for Clinton. This is Clinton shooting herself in the foot, and why I personally can't stand her.
So you're right.... while this MAY not hurt Clinton in any meaningful way please ask yourself if you condone politics played for points instead of honest politics. It is my belief that people want a more honest brand of politics.
And with that said... please share this video, folks. It's important to let people know the whole story.

(8,175 posts)but he still does not interrupt her...as long as she is talking he holds it in...giving her the respect of the mic. Even though she is flat out twisting facts to make it look like he had a choice, and like she and O'Malley chose not to vote for that bill. God I'm learning to hate her.
He is such a kind man.

(4,695 posts)and those who moved to remove Glass-Steagall. She actually inferred a confession on live TV! What has happened to the Progressive Democratic Party? New Democrats have moved it right of Center in this situation.
Her Goal: Clinton's attacks are in trying to place herself Left of Bernie, as now Center Democrats are supporting Bernie.
Bernie, keep moving it back (to the Left).
Thanks Thom.
