Related: About this forumHow The One Percent Reshaped Democracy In Their Image
Its no secret that our democracy today is owned by large corporations and the wealthy elite. And for most Americans coming of age today, this is simply how things have always been. But rest assured this is not how the government has always been run.
Ring of Fire's Farron Cousins discusses this with attorney Howard Nations.

Texas Attorney Generals keep appealing the decisions. (Current AG Ken Paxton is standing trial in Collin County Texas for alleged felonies before he was elected Nov 2014.

Last spring lawmakers passed a bill requiring school-finance cases to be handled in a new way by Texas courts. Under Senate Bill 455, the attorney general can force the referral of legal challenges to the school-funding system into the hands of a three-judge panel appointed by the states chief justice. The measure means that such cases will no longer be tried automatically by a state district judge in Austin (Travis County), as such cases have been until now. The supporters of the change clearly were unhappy with the results of past school-finance trials in a community where progressive jurists tend to hold the district judgeships.

(5,069 posts)there was the behaviorist movement within the political science community....sort of a move to get the p/s scholarship to be more scientific and less ethics based. Imho the departure from ethics based p/s scholarship was a reaction to neutralize academia whose members were highly critical of the Vietnam War. Voila you had the emphasis on statistical analyses - a very neo-liberal scholarship .......In my view, that sort of ruined the scholarship - yes you can still find political philosophy but the entire raison d'etre of political science was changed....
To this day there are ongoing debates within the community on its role and relevance in the real world. For example - in 2008 or 2009, I did very preliminary research about scholarship within the discipline....The journal that I researched was the leading (American Political Science Association) vehicle for p/s Political Science Review and others.....Per my review, I could find no articles dealing with discussion(s) of the Iraq War and/or global warming.
Coincidentally, although I have never studied p/s abroad I have been told that p/s scholarship is entirely different outside the US. For one thing, Marxism and Marxist scholars are not considered pariahs.

This is what is wrong with the nation.
What we are witnessing is the implementation of Fascism. Wake up, people!
